Have a few quick questions aimed at the oil guru's.

First off... I do my boating in Ont Canada & only in the summer months.
I have a 1999 22' donzi classic with a 502, and a 1991 31' cruiser style of boat with a pair of 454's.

I have been using 40 wt Valvoline racing oil in both boats for a number of years with no ill effects. I think the only reason I was using them was for the high content of the zinc additive.
I have access to both Valvoline straight 40 wt racing oil & also Valvoline 20w50 racing oil with both having that same zinc additive I wanted.

My question...... Which of those 2 oils listed above would be the more preferable oil to use considering my location, age of the boats, etc.

Any replies would be greatly appreciated.

20w50.

Offers more film strength than a 40 at all temps and gets to the parts faster at cold start up.

My 2 cents.

Just put VR1 20-50 in my 96 502 and a wix racing filter. Seems to work, been using it for years.

Same combo that I use in Michigan.

I'd say in your climate 20/50 would be better. :propeller:

As a side note we in the USA run 20/50 organic or 15/50 synthetic, as straight 40 is not really available off the Dept store shelf:doh:
