The Americas Cup is being contested in San Francisco,... NOW. It happens every 3-4years.

For those of you who may not be up to date on what is going on in sailing. Check out this video. Even for us sailors... this is spectacular stuff. This is ENGINEERING

I was surprised to see that the cat has become the staple of the sailing world just like it did in offshore as well. last time I saw America's cup they were trying to hide the keel from the world the boats have changed a lot. so have the speeds.

Two more great races today. Big winds. Us won first, NZ won second so now 7-1 NZ. First to 9 wins cup.

Vendee Globe was more interesting to me. These are amazing, though.

Two good races today. Oracle is definitely making adjustments and getting faster. They are probably in too big of a hole though.

Mike - there is a foiling trimaran which will likely make a run for the Jules Verne (round the world record) trophy in a year or so. Shooting for something well under 40 days. But the Vendee is awesome in a solo/endurance way.
