The plastic pick up on my X-18 keeps flipping up when it is rough. It is the second one in a few years. Does anyone have a recommendation for a decent speedo pickup/pitot assembly?

Both Livorsi and Gaffrig offer SST pickups.
Also, there's a spring loaded version that some swear by, others don't.........
I like the SST version, and have not tried the spring loaded version.

I use the spring loaded Livorsi. It has never popped up; tested to over 85 mph :) . If it does hit flotsam then it will pop up and can't get ripped off the transom. It looks like the second one in George's picture. It is $223 from livorsi.com; Probably cheaper elsewhere.

If you can find one of these, they work like a champ and are relatively cheap. I think they were made by Medallion, but I can check. I have one on my 90+mph Eliminator Daytona and installed one on my 25' Martini out of my old parts stock. As your speed increases, the pressure holding it down increases, but they can flip up if you hit something. Bill

I am at my shop and checked. It is a Kysor Medallion.
