Does anyone know if there is a solution to fuel gauge bounce other than installing the new style capillary sender? Can a capacitor be added across the sender wire to ground to help with the bounce? Any thoughts? Bill

Not on a mechanical (float) sender. You would need more sophisticated electronics to dampen the readings.

Thanks for the reply. I tried doing some online research and discovered that there are quite a few types of sending units that eliminate bounce. Centroid uses capacitance, WEMA uses an electronically measured float in tube, and Fluid-trac uses ultrasonic distance measurement averaged over time. There are even indirect measurement devices and algorithmic programmed types available for any tank design.
My old Chris Craft had a calibrated dip stick which worked perfectly - lol.
I had asked since a bouncing needle on a gauge is distracting. Bill

Damping is one thing, accuracy is another. I would agree, a bouncing needle will drive you nuts. Most don't do much for accuracy though, especially when your tank is semi-vee shaped, or any shape other than rectangular.

I went with the Centroid and have had good luck with it. The damping works well, no bounce. The accuracy, with the algorithm programmed in, works well also, no more diving needle after the halfway point.
