How big is the tank in my 1996 22 Classic? I've run her 4 times after fueling up and the gauge hasn't moved much. I'm guessing it's not all that accurate.

In my experience if it has 1/4 tank or less it's close to empty.

55gal is bigger than I thought. Thanks

I thought it was 52. look at the gauge in the floor, not the dash. Surprised Bob did not recommend his tank sender as this is a common(like every single one)problem. I fill up at 1/4 if not higher and the floor gauge seems pretty accurate, at least in mine.

Nick, does your tank really have a floor gauge???

Also, the aluminum tanks have a bit more capacity than plastic tanks (thinner walls).

Aluminum tanks were 55 and the plastic ones were 52 gallons.

Get a Tidbart sender.

Yes it does George. Aluminum tank(tan) with a gauge that is just at the bow part of the opening. Empty is all the way to stern, half is pointed at port and full is at bow. Weird dial with that config, almost like a dash gauge. Thought they held 52, good to know 55.

I got a Tidbart sender from the 1st batch, but with the boat down for the last couple years, I haven't tried it yet. I know it's better, but I've been anxious to see how accurate it is. Does your gauge read the gallons left in the tank correctly?

My floor gauge is accurate, dash sucks. Reads full forever and then like 1/4. It has very little time in between. When dash reads 1/4 my floor is usually 1/2 or a tad more.

No bounce to the needle and a much more consistent read of the fuel.

I went boating last Thursday and the gauge read just under 1/2 when I launched. During the ride I saw the gauge read above 1/2 most of the time. Fueled up Sunday and she took 42 gal. I looked for the tank gauge and don't seem to have one. I can see the sending unit under the cover in the center floor storage area so it wouldn't be a big deal to change.

Am I the only one with a tank gauge?

Remember it is triangular so the bottom "1/2" runs down faster than the top "1/2"

Yes!

My '95 22C has an on tank gage. Does that gauge read depth of fuel or amount of fuel? The dash gauge almost never moves.

They both read depth of fuel but due to the shape of the tank, and inclination, they are inherently inaccurate.

Not mine. When my tank gauge reads around 1/4 I usually have about 12-15 gals in her. My dash gauge however can be reading full and take on 25 gals.

Hey Pat, Not to derail your post, But have you been out on the river yet? I was at PBW last week and it looked flooded and some debris flowing.

Yes, lots of crap floating last week. She cleaned up over the weekend. Hopefully the rain coming Friday and Saturday won't bring more logs off the banks...

That sucks, It's not lookin good for this w/e. I was finally bringing my boat home from OP Yesterday and I saw a red 22 on 154 in a yard with gold letters on the cover I assume it's yours? Where did you get the cover if it is your's?

Nice. Just like mine but you have the nice stainless trim on the windshield.
