Just thought I'd throw this up. farmerTX and I did this event last year and had a grest time, 2012 Lake Powell Challenge (http://www.donzi.net/forums/showthread.php?68020-Post-Lake-Powell-Challenge&highlight=powell) . The weather in September is usually spectacular and this is a very relaxing weekend. The only issue we may have this year is that we lost a large section of Highway 89 over the winter, acess to the south end of the lake. It's highly unlikely that this highway will be repaired this summer so there is a 50-mile detour to get to powell from the South. We'll probably go up on Wednesday or Thursday and return home on Sunday.

The early registration deadline is July 31st @ $150, it goes up to $200 after this deadline.

Yes, just let me know your dates once we get closer.

Also BTW, 14 Quagga mussels were found at Wahweap in March. They said there was no evidence of them breeding yet so the fight is still on to keep them out of the lake. Hopefully they're not in there for good. :(

For anyone who might be on the fence about coming to Powell, maybe this will help.

The San Juan Arm of the lake is about 60-miles up from the dam. Give the video some time; he enters the lake about 1/4 of the way into the video and flys along the San Juan before entering the main channel of the lake. Towards the end he flys over Antelope Marina which is where the Poker Run will be staged.

The deadline for the early registration is comig up on July 31st.

Signed up!

No boat yet.......but I'm working on it. Ok, probably not working on it as much as I need to, but I figured if I signed up, I might be forced to find the time.

I STONGLY suggest that everyone boat Lake Powell at least once in their life time. This lake is unreal!

I've never been to their poker run, but I'm a huge fan of their beneficiary...Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. A lot of people are under the misconception that since insulin, Diabetes is no big deal.........but it's still a major killer. My sister was a juvenile diabetic and like many, her life was cut short due to diabetic complications.

This trip's for you Cindy! RIP April 1 1960 - April 14 2000.
(Yes, she was an April Fools baby...and played the part. Lived and laughed more in her 40 years than I'll ever do if I live to 100).
