I'm happy with the SST I now use but don't like the Viper (14¼x23) that came with the boat. I'm going to eBay that prop (unless someone here wants to buy it) and would like any brand and model recommendations for a good handling, 3 blade, 14x23 aluminum prop. Mostly to be used as a spare, to get home, or try for 60 MPH .

Motor is a 302 HO, 200 HP, OMC Cobra 1.58 ratio, turns 4800 easily with a 21" SST.

Thanks guys, John C

For a little more than alum you can get a Stiletto($250ish shipped) from my friend. I would use the stiletto and keep the SSt as a spare. SSt are good props but basically a stronger alternative to alum. A good Stiletto or ?? should help performance. If you are happy with a 21 SSt I think a Stiletto 20 would be good as they are more aggressive than a SST. If interested in his contact info....e-mail me as I rarely check PM's. He would be able to give you good advice as well, a real prop guru as all props are designed differently. The Stiletto might give more bow lift where a the Viper gave too much stern, etc.

Thx biggie, but I already had the SST reworked by D.A.H. Props and the the SST works fine on my rig.

Solas has about 4 models in SS in 3 and 4 blade that will work on the KC

Matty, it a regular Cobra not a KC. I'm looking for a 3 blade aluminum as its just a "get me home" prop. I will check Solas, in any case.

Did anyone take Big Grizz's place selling Solas props to the folks here?

no, i don't think so and as far as I know Randy was only involved in the Volvo Penta AQ series Solas props not their other offerings. He did also have turbo props for the merc and the omc apps.

the amita 3 can be found online from around 115-135 from different suppliers not including shipping.

You would be amazed at how many props are made by the same company. I think Solas, Stiletto, Suzuki, & some Yamaha props are all made by one. The guy I mentioned above may do alum as well. You will need a 23 alum to compete with a 21 SST or a 21 4 blade which might not be bad.

The nice thing is the new hubs which means you can put a Quicksilver prop on a Suzuki. Yamahas could run Merc and Suzukis could run OMC but now the field is open which is great. I knew Yamaha and another prop or 2 were in cahoots. Is Turbo and Stiletto the same?

That's a bit of Eddie Murphy I think. Want revenge on bratty little kids? Teach them to speak incorrectly...something along those lines best I recall.

Hell come down to FL for a rendezvous and you will lose 20 years from laughing so much! I'll bring the Steve Martin albums.

Oops, Martin not Murphy. I had Raw and Live, but no Steve Martin. Now I feel funny. And I don't even have Bologna in my shoes.

I bought a Solas Amita 3 in 14.24x23 as a get me home prop. A performance comparison is below and the only issue I have is the prop vibrates more than my tuned SST. But for $110 I can't complain about a prop that hopefully will never be needed.

Tuned SST 14.25x21: 59.3 MPH (gps) @ 4850 RPM
Factory stock Amita 14.25x23x3: 57.4 MPH (gps) @ 4400 RPM
