Here is a 1977 Hornet ll all original Barn Find! It hasn't been in the water for 23 years. You will be hard pressed to find one this original and soild. Every single piece of hardware is there and original, all original gel coat, original lexan in windsheild with no cracks or scratches, original Teleflex Blue Line gauges, original interior and sun pad etc.

ALL the original wiring is perfect and unmolested or cut.

The motor and drive are original. The deck, floor, stringers and transom are solid as a rock with no rot or soft spots. I dont think the boat was used in salt water at all.

The motor is a 350 with 300HP. The drive is a Volvo 280. I dont know if the motor will run and I have not tried it. It does turn free. The drive is off the boat and apart. I was told that the original owner was in the process of putting on a later model drive with trim and never finished.

The original gel coat will polish up like a mirror with some compound. The interior is in ok shape and can be used the way it is.

I dont have the time to work on this and have to many other projects. If I polished and waxed the boat, got the motor running and installed the drive on the boat I would be asking a hell of alot more money for it.

This is a great boat for someone...Just a bit of mechanical work and you have a great boat!

$5800.00

I will be listing it on ebay shortly...just thought I would list it here first and see if anybody on the board wants a shot at it. I would love to see it go to a good home.

Awesome Job with the pictures! I resized them for faster download below. Just Say N20.

Would a 2009 Merc 350 MPI mate to the volvo 280?

Jeff

Yes, it will mate up. You need a late model Volvo Penta intermediate housing/shaft.

-A buudy who now owns my old '83 18 w/Volvo 280 mated an Merc MX 6.2 to the existing Volvo 280 drive. -He since completed the full conversion to Bravo and might possibly still have this component.

I'm not familiar with the intermediate housing/shaft, is that the bell housing? Are there any other considerations I should be thinking about here?

Is the boat still available?

Jeff,
We have a club member with an X-18 who has a Volvo 280 with a MPI attached. Brad Verds boat is exactly what you are talking about.

keep it i have a line on a green hornetIII then you would have all 4 models of Hornets under one roof and all green to boot.

but seriously this boat is very original and very solid and the color is called light chartreuse .
