The Lake George Donzi Classic Club announces it's 18th Annual Spring Dustoff (http://www.lgdonziclassic.com/news/news.detail.asp?id=1348929088)

18th Annual Dustoff to be held June 14-16th 2013
Lake George New York

What better place to celebrate your 18th birthday than on the Queen of
American lakes. Join us and mark off the dates for Father's Day weekend
June 14-16th 2013.

The event will feature some new and exciting twists including a chance to
win one of a kind Donzi memoribilia and collectibles. Last year's photo
contest will be expanded and will feature the top 12 pictures in the LGDCC
photo calendar. The event will also include a judged boat show and awards dinner.

As always, this event is dedicated to the Donzi Classics and their owners.
We cruise the entire magnificent lake and always find something new to
see or do on Lake George and in the surrounding area.

There will be no increase in the event fee which will be the same as last year.
Registration forms and the formal agenda will be online shortly.

Look forward to seeing you all in June.

Please if you plan on attending don't delay in making your reservations. They are going to have a an extremely busy year up there due to storm damage from Sandy to the northeastern seaboard. The loss of vacation and rental properties are forcing people to book vacations at other destinations.

The formal agenda will be out next week, but a sure sign of spring at the host of our annual dustoff . there are Donzi and the docks of the algonquin.

the red one looks really familiar from the Algonquin's facebook page

That red boat has NEVER taken a bad picture.

Maybe I should ask for a tank of gas or at least an Algonquin Amber as a royalty.

Although, if winter could just finally be over, that would be good too.......

I have a 1970 Donzi 18' Classic, but it is in a garage in Maine awaiting a new engine and a restoration. I've never been to a Donzi event before and I'd be interested in seeing Donzi's in their full glory. Is it worth going to this event even if I don't bring a boat? Since I would imagine most of the fun will be in running them on the lake, I wonder if it is worth an 8 hour round-trip drive just for a few minutes of viewing docked boats? If I do go, when would be the best time to arrive and do I need to register? I'm also a camera buff, so I'll probably enter the photo contest if I do go.

Jay,

Interesting boat on the far right in that first picture.

I remember it when it was white/blue. Is this the first public appearance of Mighty Mouse since GEOO sold it? I know the current owner, and the boat itself, was kept very hush-hush for quite a while.

Is the new owner on this site? Would love to hear about the changes/upgrades done to the boat.

I had a great time at the Dust-off. Thanks to all who made it possible. Special thanks go to Jay, who gave me a 3-hour ride in his '67 Ski Sporter. I can't imagine a better way to spend the day. Donzi's are very photogenic; see below.

Davis - the pleasure was all mine. I don't get many passengers in my boat, and if you come back in September, you can join a very elite club- REPEAT passengers!

Thanks again for lunch and for the excellent photos. Good luck w/ your 18 and post some pictures.

Bill- Looking at that picture, I'm pretty sure the Pumpkin has been orange for a long time.

Seriously, we were all thrilled to see Mighty Mouse. The boat changed hands and went into hibernation the year before I bought my boat so I had never seen it either. It is exceptional in every detail - truly amazing, and is in the tail end of a very high quality, multi year mechanical and cosmetic restoration. I think this was the first time it has been together with all the components of the restoration in place and the owner was really pleased. Although the boat's ownership is not really a secret, (more of an open secret), since it is such an unusual story, I'll let him comment when he desires. Or bring your own terrific Ski Sporter back to LG in September and you can probably meet him yourself. :)

Didn't realize they made either an F-14 or a Firefox. I suppose the Black Widow and Blackhawk also fit the bill. And there's probably SOME airplane called the "Spirit." Probably some plane called a "Crossbow" out there as well, but I'm too lazy to look... :)

that would cover it Mike

1 spitfire
2 f 22

4 hornet

6 f 14
7 spirit

the fire fox and crossbow would work for all Donzi but they are not classified as classics

as some of you may know there was a reporter from the Lake George Mirror at the Algonguin on Sat. He interviewed a couple of us and well I guess I put his shorthand to the test rattling off info as we looked at all the members classics. He did mix up a few of the facts but it is a nice article . He arrived during lunch after the run so all of the boats are not in the pictures .
