I'm not sure if they are the greatest of all time, but where is Dick Bertram and Sam Griffith? They at least deserve to be on the list. Along with with Jim Wynne of course......

Group

This is the short list of names for this year only, if we listed all of the drivers the our first year it would be over two hundred names.

I'm sure you all understand.

WOW! Speaking of older offshore racers. I was at the local Hot Air Balloon Festival a few weeks ago and spotted a Benihana restaurant balloon. While walking toward the balloon and telling my 13 year old son about how the owner used to race offshore, lone behold I happen to meet Rocky Aoki. It appears after his bad crash and retirement from offshore racing in 1981 he completed the worlds first trans Pacific manned balloon flight from Japan to California. The four man crew when 6000 miles @27,000 ft using the jet stream and averaged 70 mph. He is now making a 20th anniversary tour.

Thanks for a great site to find some of the classic offshore pictures & info.

Hugh, what a great idea. Betty Cook was my Aunt. If you need any info or any more pics, please let me know. I have some great ones with her in her Kaama Scarab about 10' out of the water. Take care, I look forward to seeing the winners.
