Not throwing off on the boat or the ad here, but just for clarification, weren't the '68 boats barrelbacks?

1968 was a transition year. This boat (hull 232 or 235 - I forget) was advertised here a little over a year ago and is probably one of the first non barrel backs.

Looks like a nice, original boat. And it has that groovy windshield!

It popped up on my phone from a few craigslist ads a day or two ago, it's pretty well blanketed all over the US on craigslist... more pics too.

1968 Dozni 18 2+3 for sale. I am the second owner of this boat. Has always been run in fresh water, mostly in the U.P. of Michigan. Has a 302 ford with a volvo 250 out drive with the Holman/Moody package. Boat is in good running condition, but could use to have the seats re-done. Comes with single axle trailer. Price is $9450/OBO. Call or text with questions at 616-836-1456.

nice looking example of an early 18 round bottom 2+3 that was a very popular color then the seats are the "number 5" option which wear flared out for a little more comfort over the stand tight buckets. most early classics had the dark contrasting interior which usually matched the stripe the boat is so cool the seats can't get that hot, really nothing a well placed towel can't fix.

i would love an engine shot the scoop has me, is it just show or could the 302 have a real high rise manifold on it? the boat shows the lower 289 302 exhaust exits so that has me wondering
nice boat should make someone happy

pretty high flame arrestor also looks like a high intake as well that would explain the scoop, 351w ???????????????? the intake looks wide

Ask the guy to post a picture of the top of the distributor or ask him what the firing order is - That's the easiest way to distinguish between a 351W and older 302 (anything pre-1982). I can't quite follow the spark plug wires in the photo well enough to determine what the firing order is but from the looks of the wires going Driver-Passenger-Driver-Driver it's probably a 302.

351W and 1982+ 302 = 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8
Old 302 = 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8

ss, interesting

i thought just the newer 5.0 HO had the 351w firing order the non HO 5.0 were the old firing order. you see alot of the HO in the marine app

All pre-1982 260/289/302 engines whether they were labelled HO, Hi-Po, etc or not, had the old 302 firing order. All 302 engines after 1982 had the 351W firing order.

Don't 302s have the horizontal water outlet and 351 have the vertical? Looks like a 302 to me.

Thanks for the info SS.

As far as i have seen the water outlet is the same on both the only difference is the width of the intake the 351 is taller due to its longer stroke making the valve covers farther apart This would also make the exhausts higher and wider that might explain the turn down humps and additional plumbing most of the HM humps I have seen in I/o classics are straight end dumps

It very well could be a 302. Just curious about the scoop I had a HM 351w in a 16 without a scoop. Don had a 302 in the same 18 without a scoop
Either way still looks like a nice boat

Sandog

the water outlet is vertical on the 351Cleveland the 289/302/351 windsors all have a horizontal outlet
