The Independence Seaport Museum Philadelphia is having it's big boat festival Oct 6-7 2012 at Penn's Landing Phila. along the Deleware River .
There will be 30+ Antique boats of all kinds on display both in the water & on land. Many will offer rides
The museum will offer various antique boatbuilding tecniques & demonstrations , maritime history lessons & much much more
About six large tall sailing ships will attend this event for a parade, tours & also rides.
The fantastic Maritime museum with over 30,000 maritime history display atifacts will be open for tours as well as the famous Cruiser USS Olympia the very last Iron & steel warship left from Teddy Roosevelt's "Great White Fleet" from the Spanish American war;; as well as being the oldest & very last Iron & steel warship left anywhere virtually intact & afloat in the entire world.
This Cruiser was Admiral George Dewey's flagship.
This was part of the infamous Battleship Maine Fleet when the Maine exploded & sunk starting the Spanish American War.
Admiral Dewey's famous words started the Spanish American War sea battle.
"You may fire when ready Gridley"
Also ~
The WW II , Korean, & Vietnam war era submarine Becuna will also be open for tours.
The Philly chapter of the Antique & Classic Boat Society (ACBS) will also be having their many members display their mahogany and early fiberglass speedboats along with Antique sailing & wooden craft; both in the water & on land display.
Many will offer rides !
There will be great maritime fun & great food & entertainment for the entire family.

The USS Battleship New Jersey is only a very short ride over the Ben Franklin bridge in Camden NJ and it will also be open for tours.

It now looks like Sunday will be a total washout.


Saturday now appears to be the day to attend.

i went friday evening and saturday after lunch waste of time and money.
