Can someone tell me what the sight glass in the floor of my '67 ski sporter is for. A previous owner drilled a second hole a few inches away to access the fuel line fitting on top of the tank but I don't see anything below the glass cover. I'd also like to get a copy of an owners manual for this boat if anyone has a scanned copy or would be willing to photocopy one and snail mail it to me.

The original tank would of had a mechanical gauge in it that you could see through the sight glass.

For some reason it only seems to be showing one picture (I uploaded 3) so I'll do a separate post for motor and outdrive photos

1967 Holman moody ford 289 standard rotation raw water cooled I/O engine number 2059
200 HP 2 bbl carb 9.3:1 compression initial timing 8 degrees

the 270 outdrive is not original

still a 2 bbl on it ??

find a hull number yet, look on the back side of the dash and the bow eye backing plate hand written in black marker

has the boat been painted?

look on the top of the drive for a metal tag it should have a number on it like PZ2XX yada yada yada

I am in the process of scanning and uploading several older owners, shop, parts and maint manuals from Holman Moody, volvo penta, and merc to the new Lake George Donzi Classic Club website. they should be available in a few weeks. Those should help you with your boat

No it doesn't have the 2bl carb. It came to me with a 4 bl Holley. Yes it has been painted I assume to the original colors. My eventual plan is to do a full restoration and paint it in shelby colors (dark blue with double white stripes). My other eventual plan is to do a '67 shelby mustang clone in the same colors. Sort of a Carol Shelby version of surf and turf. A 67 shelby as a tow vehicle for a '67 Donzi. That should make a magazine cover somewhere don't you think?

i figured the 2 bbl would have been changed over it's lifetime, the boat was originally white with light blue stripes i think you can see the blue poking thru in the wear spots on the hatch opening

sounds like a plan, guy on my lake had an el camino and a barrelback painted with matching paint and graphics looked pretty good

Mine has a fuel gage on the panel. I thought it was original but I guess not if the sight glass is there. I don't think the gage in the sight glass is still there.

if the site gauge is not there it would lead me to think the tank has been replaced. the spot on the dash cluster that the fuel gauge is in was probably an hour meter or a donzi prop logo gauge blank( these are very rare and very cool) when it left the factory.

You may want to look for a tag on the fuel tank that would have the build date of the tank on it.
