Thanks to so many of you humble folks that wanted to stay nameless we now have something to add to the picture (that another "someone" sent me years ago) to kind of set it off a little.

Here, let me get you a closer look so you can read it.

That's right, we (and when I say "we" you all know who you are) won the St Michaels Classic Boat Show, Best Race Boat division!!
Never thought it would happen. Our first show ever at the biggest show in the area (60 miles from home for us) and to say it lightly, they love their old wood boats but we still won.

From the decals to the V-Drive, prop shaft, struts, rev rotation motor advice, history, videos we have got a lot of help over the last 2 and 1/2 years and it all came together this weekend.

http://img850.imageshack.us/img850/5949/29834496.jpg

From 4/5th of Resurrection Marine (me, Sarah, Jack and the head of security Abby) and the other 1/5th (Maureen our finance officer is behind the camera) we all want to say, thank you!

To cap it off, we scored a very cheap and cool old kerosene lamp. What a perfect day!

Two engines, one shaft / prop, and interesting trim tabs. Back then, stern drives could not handle the horsepower and the trim tabs are really different.

Here is one from the top of the lighthouse late on Sunday (a lot of folks already started pulling out) but the grounds are huge with docks/slips right behind all the buildings in the foreground and all the docks in the background with more land displays in the back to the left of the picture and even more to the right of the picture.
Including a few of these bad boys.

PS, I have a about a hundred pictures but haven't even unloaded the camera yet. More to come.

That's really cool. Just from reading your posts I know it couldn't have happened to a nicer person. Did you ever set up a platform so people could look inside the boat?

Did you ever set up a platform so people could look inside the boat?

Rented a bakers scaffold and a set of steps off of some sort tower from a local place and put them together with some ratchet straps. Worked well.

Would love to but only one show a season or I'm not going to get anything done (when the weather is good I have to work on other boats being the garage is only 18X20). Not only that but the trailer loves 55mph but 62 and things start to get a little hairy so that would be a very long trip.

Thanks folks. I know it sounds corny but its a bit of a dream for us. We have a lot of respect for the boats that are and have been in the show. Been going to this show for the last 16 or 17 years. Not saying we haven't missed a couple due to life stepping in the way but any time there we said that we could do this. Maybe not win but at least have a boat good enough to hang out without shame. lol. But to actually do it was a totally different story. Our hats are off to the folks who do it year in and year out. It's a lot of work just getting ready. ie; We figure being it was to close to home to get a hotel room there but still being a bit of a haul from home that over the 4 days we did something like 660 miles back and forth and a 130 of that was with the trailer that has only traveled about 30 miles in the last .....30 years, lets just say even though it was a great 4 days and the trailer was totally rebuilt and should have been no worries (and it worked fine) we are happy everything is safe and in the driveway now.
And yes it was all very, very worth it. To end up with this little piece of pretty wood with a metal plate on it is nothing about the trophy for us (but we do like it and it is pretty though). Most of all receiving one says that we are doing it right with our restores. True backyard (or in our case, front yard) restorations that are able to compete in a major classic boat show. Every classic we have restored including the race boat followed the same guild lines that we have always used. Do it as right as possible, as close as possible and there is no "by the book" to be followed. Add in some late night research, hours and hours of hunting parts, etc etc and we started with a rusty trailer, a hull, boxes of parts and a single picture and with a little help from our friends that most we have never met in person, look what we did!
We can honestly say that anyone, from the forum poster of a simple "cool boat" to folks the provided things like designing and providing all the decals from that one picture for the boat for the cost of the vinyl, or all the priceless research, machine work and powder coating of the Casale C1000 and all for a return favor that has never been asked, the proper seal numbers for a reverse rotation motor, put us in touch with the best cam people, the right V-drive people and even the original builder himself and there is so many more. All of you played a part in some way to bring this boat back to life. Just like all the others we do and we are sure many more in the future again thank you.

Would love to see a video of the boat running.

There some older video on SuperNova24.com
Sea trials should have started already but then the boat show steeped in the way so we have never done much besides having it run at the ramp and make sure everything worked. Sadly there wasn't enough water to get it out. I have to find a bigger ramp but I also have to get the finished 1970 Monza 19' and the 19' 1963 Beisemeyer 4pt hydro on the water for their test drives and tweaks and up for sale before the end of summer so the r/b is on hold again for a couple weeks.

Hey Bert, it was great to meet you to. Being the R/B is no longer eligible for 3 years maybe next I will bring the 19 and yes rides will be happening in it.
Jray, there is a lot of reasons I can only do one a season. One of the main ones is money. I'm not going to lie and say we pulled the cover off from last fall and took it to the show. For that matter I kept a blog on SuperNova24.com
http://www.supernova19.com/nova24_race_boat_2012.htm (http://www.supernova19.com/nova24_race_boat_2012.htm) of just what we did for prep work for the show so we could give people a real taste of what it takes to do it from scratch (this was our first boat, car, anything show). Had no clue what to expect when I sent that first late night email asking if they would like the 24 for the show. Once it was accepted then the real learning began and I found out that we were not ready at all. We really didn't care about the awards. Our main goal was not to embarrass ourselves and we also had the responsibility to present the 24 in the best condition possible and not embarrass its legacy. It hasn't been seen outside of our yard for almost 30 years. First impressions you know. So everything that I wanted to change from the original build, everything that needed to be completed (stupid stuff) and a bunch of other stuff to boot all had to be done in a couple weeks.
Then there was the time. It took a lot of time. The second time around will take a lot less being I have story boards and already made up books to look through, etc, etc but there is still a lot of time involved no matter what.
So we can only do one splurge of that kind of time and money one time a year on something like this or you are right and we will never have a chance to enjoy any of it or build any other classic boats that need to be saved.
Thanks again everyone and you haven't been there you need to check out RessurrectionMarine.com
The race boat may be the most famous but its not the only one.

Group photo of the Award Winners at the 25th Annual Antique and Classic Boat Festival that is held in St. Michaels, MD over the three days of Father's Day weekend.

Next year's dates will be June 14, 15, and 16, 2013. All of the show all three days with boat ride cruises from around 2 to 4PM on friday, Seminars all day from 11 AM to 5PM on Saturday, andBar-B-Que where the Awards are given out from 11:30 AM to 2:00PM on Sunday. While the museum and its grounds are open till 5PM on Sunday, most of the folks with the Classic Boat Show start going home after the Awards are given out. A few Award winners needed to go before the photo was even taken, so more Awards were won that are not in the photo.

I have to let you all in on something.

While we we're walking around before the awards we knew we had to have something to take home with us (again we never thought we would win) so we found this old lamp at one of the booths and it was on sale for the last day. 15 bucks and it was all there and worked to a point. I like old kerosene lamps and knowing someone would ask how we did I thought I could use it as a joke and say that this was the trophy they gave us at the show. Planned on getting it a name plate and everything. lol.
But now that we won an award we had to ResurrectionMarine.com (http://www.resurrectionmarine.com/)our old lamp. It has all the right things needed for a restore. It's unique from the many others I've seen, cool looking and built to last. All the parts were there that are unavailable today like the super heavy, wavy glass chimney and should be worth as least as much as we have in it when done.
Take it apart and get everything working right. Remove all the patina or what we call rust and then gave it a couple coats of black paint (its original color). Then put it all back together and fill and fire it up. The first test drive went flawless.
I think we are up to 17 bucks and during the last hurricane I would have gave $50 for one. lol.
