How much is it really worth? Has some dings but looks overall clean for an '87. Only thing I noticed was some ripples on the right side top to bottom near the transom (but on the side of the boat).

Those years really demand a survey.
There're so many things that really need a good look, like tank, stringers, cracks in the inner strakes, etc.
OTOH, it may be great, and w/that trailer, it may be worth every penny.

Take that 72 mph with a grain of salt and try to get a hold of a hand held gps for the water test. When it tops out at 65 this could be a bargaining point ;). As said, it should be surveyed since it is a 25 year old boat. It looks sharp in the pictures.

The finned valve covers has me wondering what engine is in there, 330's had tin most of the upper HP had the finned. Maybe its a 420 that would make it into the 70's.

It does look good but it does have some scrapes past the blue in a few spots on the sides. I really am NOT a boater having never owned one but I do love these things and would like to own one someday. Can I crawl under the deck enough to take pics of the tank and stringers? I know someone with a moisure meter also.

Also I think this is a nicer boat for good money http://www.donzi.net/forums/showthread.php?66962-Donzi-22-Classic-1987 Just as a comparison.

Negotiate a lower price, and the difference will pay for the survey. Of course the survey needs to be done first.
The years of 22C production between the late '70's to about '89, or so, need to be suspect.
Lets just say the build quality was mixed, and not knowing the boats that well means it needs to be done professionally.
Really!
You'll b e glad you did.

Went to take another look today. The boat is on consignment and he seemed to not like my assesment of a 12k-15k boat. He said the 22 had an extensive:confused: rebuild in 07 but didn't know if the tank had been out. He did say all was in working order and it is infact a 330hp engine. I think anywhere near 17k is too much for as much dock rash and scrapes as it has. Just my .02

a 330 won't run much past 62-63 unless it's ultra healthy.... it would need another 100 ponies to run 72

Yea I didn't figure the top side claims were close.

No better negotiating tool than a handheld GPS if someone's made a speed claim in the listing...
