All things being equal. That is general condition visual and mechanical what would you rather have a 85 18 classic or a 94 18 classic???

Requesting some input from some you guys that "really" know your Donzi's.

My $0.02........the AMH boats are better than the Staples boats.
AMH started producing boats in '94.

Those two model years are very close if not on an ownership change 85 would be from the Chisholm to Staples era. and 94 would be around the OMC to AMH maybe a little after but still AMH first year. what are the HIN on these boats both could be built in the prior year the 85 could have been built later in 84 for the 85 model year same for the 94 could be built in 93.

In general i agree with George but early staples boats are different from later Staples boats, the later boats Genth and Hauser wanted performance within a budget with out keeping the quality there. how do you make a boat faster without throwing HP at it you make it lighter. the 22 lost like 600 lbs once genth got his way and took over with omc in 88 .

but the chris craft donzi of the omc era were built well

I digress i would look at the age of the power train so I would lean to the newer 18 , general condition being equal

I seem to have luck with Chisholm era boats.

Not sure if this helps as I am not real familiar with 18's but....the quality between a 1987 22 and my 1994 22 is night and day. Everything from the stringers to the windshield are much beefier with the 94.
