1964 16' ski sporter title needed?

I restored a 1964 16' donzi from ruins
I reglassed the deck and never found any numbers
I have never had a title or bill of sale
I purchased the boat over 10 years ago
Anybody know how I can get a title in Illinois for this boat
I thought of buying another basket case for the title
But then I would restore it and have the same problem

I have had a few issues with older trailers and older boats with the NYS DMV. I do not know Il. regs but research things like what year is a title needed some older boats were built before that date. Does your state have a homemade option?, in NY you can use this for boats and trailers then they issue you a VIN or HIN. Did you get anything with the boat? old reg or old numbers on the boat? In NY the bill of sale is key cause that is where the state gets their beak wet. They will use the old reg numbers sometimes as the new HIN as well. hope that helps
