How feasible would it be to convert a carbed 454 to CNG to save some money and reduce some emissions?

Will the coast guard allow this? What if they never knew?

I dont see any reason why this couldnt be done, considering almost every other application for internal combustion engines have been converted.

Here in OK, CNG is faaaar cheaper than gasoline.

Biggest problem is the tank size.
When I see CNG busses the tanks are almost as big as the bus.

That is the tank on the roof of the bus.

Sounds like a pontoon boat is in order

That bus is probably appropriately named. LOL

The City of Leesburg had, for a while, a fleet of CNG trucks.
They do have cold starting issues, and do require you to carry gasoline for starting.

You don't want CNG for a boat.

You want LNG for a boat. Did one 40 or so yrs ago. Actually had a company that specialized in it... Will see if I can find an OLD business card................Ed

ED~~Very cool indeed .

You might want to re-think doing these Natural Gas Marine conversions again due to today's very high fuel prices ?

It seems you were way ahead of the natural gas times .

race boats are one thing but a pleasure boat fueling and refueling would be a nightmare take the boat to a propane station or carry BBQ tanks with you, registering and insuring could be as well.
Just imagine a leak and explosion occurs and then you turn to the insurance co. they in turn find out the fuel system has been altered from a factory installed and USCG approved system they'll turn you every which way but loose. plus don't LNG tanks sweat like a mother warm bilge cold bottom from the water.
