Hello all
I bought this F23 a year ago and love it! Now im ready to sink some money into her and get her all patched up and painted, new wiring etc...about to run her to FLL to take care of everything including the soft floor and the console that is no longer attached to the deck!
I've done some looking and searching and cant seem to come accross too many of these model Donzi's, are they rare?

Gonna keep the Ocean Runners, yes they suck fuel and oil but they will run forever so until then i wont consider repowering.

I have the same model boat - mine is a 1988 with a single 250HP Merc outboard. Ironically, I am all but finished with my restoration and will be posting some pictures as soon as I get some new wheels installed. I really look forward to taking it out later this month. You might get some ideas from my pictures like how I handled the splashwell with a custom built piece of 1/2" Starboard. I installed all new gauges, switches, throttle, Bennett tabs, 10.4" Lowrance TFT screen GPS/sonar, etc. I am fairly happy with what I did with mine. I think they will make great fishing boats capable of handling some rough stuff! Thanks for your post!

Thanks.... I will enjoy seeing another one of these hulls redone. I am going just keep the gauges that i have for now same with the throttles..they work fine so until its time to repower i wont need to worry about them, but im redoing the wiring and the switches and fuseblocks etc gonna glass the glovebox to flush mount the gps and vhf and headunit..my electronics box is coming out all together... I should be in the water in a few weeks. I went with Lenco tabs...electric is my preference. Cant wait for the hartop and aluminum work to be completed and try find some good top mount riggers for her.

----A bit after my time at DONZI, but this is a completely different model. Almost like a Pro-Line hull with DONZI stickers.....Bill S

You guys are right. I didn't really study the pictures when I thought it was the same model as mine. This one has many of the upswept hull characteristics of other boat models. Did Donzi make quite a few different models of the 23? Bill

Hey Kappytan. The other day we emailed back and forth a couple times. You said your '90 f23 has an 18 deg transom deadrise. I also read a post from someone else saying that the deadrise on the '90 f23 was only 12 deg. Where can i find that info? The boat i'm looking at is a '90 f23 w/a . I'm concerned that a 12 deg might pound a lot. 18 sounds more middlle of the road between a deep v and a modified v. Does yours pound much? Anyone else with info on this ?

Thanks,
Mark

Im pretty sure my hull was produced when OMC bought Donzi they made this hull for a year then went under. Its the same hull as the 23 W/A so whatever the specs are for that hull would be the specs for this. Also Clearwater Boats 2300wi is the same hull

Conquistador_del_mar - your boat is a beauty! I love what you did with the helm, this may be an option for me I do believe these are identical consoles. I am deleting the plexi flip up glove box to the right of the gauges so i can flush mount all my electronics and the dry storage hatch makes good sense and gives me all the storage back.

Heres some more pics of the first coats.

Been too busy to post pics lately but here's some more of the boat with the hull painted and starting the interior work. Took off the rail and pulpit, gonna run all the rigging through PCV pipe. Doing custom work to the console. Got the hardtop mold almost done and the aluminum work is getting prepped. New floors ready to go down. Got everything ordered and ready to rig...should only be a couple weeks now! Enjoy.

Wow Kappytan! The guys are getting a serious amount of work done fairly quickly. I'm glad you got an idea or two from mine, but it looks like you are totally revamping it with some custom rigging - cool! Yes, our consoles and quite a few other features are identical in our boats, but the hulls are different. What are you doing for motors? By the way, I absolutely love mine that I have only taken out twice so far. Bill

Bill, I wont be doing anything to the motors apart from painting them. They run absolutely great. She is coming along really well should be completely painted inside by easter weekend. I saw your vids, looks like you are certainly enjoying her. Thanks again!

Kappytan

Bill, Thank you!! I will be adding a set of Lenco tabs..a Garelick swim ladder and 3 set of OceanLed underwater lights. Once the hardtop is fastened and rigged we can move down to the transom. How's your rig treating you?

Great work you are doing. My steering wheel was mounted on the trailing back of the console instead of on the top like yours, but I can see either way working fine. I really like what you did with the right side of the console - the storage bin is not very useful. We got back from a company trip to Disney World for a week so I have not been out for a while, but I am still loving the "yellow jacket". At some point I will be looking into why the steering is a little stiff. Mine is also hydraulic so I suspect the helm needs work. I am enjoying seeing your work. Bill

Not sure if you will see this old thread. Mine is the 1990 Model (wide beam) F23. I haven't changed anything and the original deck is as you mention is soft. How did you replace your deck and blend it so perfectly with the rest of the inner liner? Did you cut the entire deck out or just sections? Also, what shape was your fuel tank in? Were you able to keep it?

Right now my boat runs fine as is, but I would love to do it right. However, I'm terrified of digging in and messing up an otherwise working boat.
