...on your reman engines.

I thought I might get out on the bay a little today. Day after my birthday and all, why not?

Well, this is why. I had a client with 'new' reman 454s in his carver last year. He went with the cheapest motors he could get from a place in Florida. They've been in the boat for a while but only have about 10 hours on them.

One engine was reported not idling/hard to start. Today I found out why. Clearly had water in #5; one broken spring and bent pushrod, and one bent valve. No signs of the valve hitting the piston, so at least that's good.

It will be interseting to see if the warranty from the builder is any good. I'll find out tomorrow I guess.

That's a real drag...even worse if he can't get the warranty to cover it........although, I've had no problems with a Merc
reman 6.2 in my 18.....I won't retest the hand of fate on 2 more reman motors for my Magnum...This is a great example
of where not to go cheap on a marine engine....."internally speaking, that is"
