Where are the gas lift supports for the engine hatch mounted to the boat on a classic 22? Are the mounted toward the back seat or the transom? Any pics?

My '88 22C didn't have gas struts until I added them last year. Just had a rod to prop the hatch open. The attached video shows where mine are attached.

It is a Quicktime movie file and I can't figure out how to reformat it, so I hope that you got your answer from the picture :smash:

The shop that did my hull reinforcements kept my longer supports and put in these . This is the stock mounting location in '05 though. (Actually I just want to show off my engine too.....)

That would be a Vortech. Similar idea, different company. It actually looks nicer than a procharger.

The deck end mount of my struts were simply screwed into pre drilled holes. This did not last long and I had to thru bolt them with tiny bolts/nuts.

Thanks guys. I would have mounted them upside down without the pics. Keep them coming. I am enjoying the engine pics.

Vortech, similar to a procharger.
Was already there when I bought the boat, good stuff.

I just replaced the ones on my 22. 20" long stainless version from diamond perf. for 70.00ea and they come in 30lb or 60lb ratings.

For $70 each there's no wonder the shop stole mine.
