Wow Ed, I'll bet they don't have any problem finding guards! I didn't know there were houses that large outside of the Vanderbilt house in Asheville, NC. I hope your time there is almost like a vacation. Bill

Is there a lot of work to do? Since one year I am restoring my house and no end comes in view...

Looks like they need the boilers on NOW ... haha

On a related note , has anyone caught the series on , it was either the History Channel or HGTV , on the sale of Spelling Manor in California ?

Just mind boggling .. 66,500 sq feet. Went on the market for 150 mil. It did sell but I don't know what it ended up going for.

I swear if the house was 150 , there must have been 100 mil in furnishings and contents ...all of which had to go when the seller departed .

Some of the hockey players have places near here that would make that place seem "modest"...then there are some of the cottages on Lake Muskoka!

Still, I'm sure you'll be comfortable in the helps quarters. :cool!:

Rebuilding 7 in 3 weeks?
You must have moved in with JIT parts on demand.

It looks like they can afford a pro.....and they got one!

Spelling Manor sold for about $89M. The place had to be vacated in 30 days. A 22 yr old girl bought the place.

That's certainly interesting ot hear .. I'm sure that I've yet to hear anyone on the show actually admit exactly what the selling price was.
Lord only knows what the yearly maintenance costs are for a place like that .

They did say though , that the buyer was some 'heir' from some (no doubt) far off land ..

There's a 24,000 sq. ft. house on 55 acres (I think) near here that's for sale (foreclosure) for $5.7 M. I think it cost more than $20 M to build in the first place. It sits on top of a fairly high hill and you can see it from about five miles away.
I betcha there's not a single boiler in the whole place!

I'd sure like to know if she'll ever find a guy who could make her happy if she's in the habit of getting presents like that ... :shocking:
