Looking to rent a house on Lake Norman. Usually we rent on the ocean in Nags Head for a week because my wife loves it on the ocean. I prefer a lake rental so we can use the boat. This year it seems I have swayed the family towards the lake rental.Go to south ,get a nice house ,get great food (BBQ).Anybody know this lake. Are Donzi members on this lake. I know it's man made. Many hazards etc. Any help would be great. Thanks

I think depth is generally pretty good, meaning it drops off reasonably quicky from shore. Lots of red clay I think, so anchoring might be a little tricky, but I think most anchor very near shore or even beach.

Unsure of hazards.

Also, you should probably do some homework on the lake level. Norman has had some very low years which might seriously affect where you want to be.

But I *think* it's pretty resilient. When I was there in 2002, the lake level was very low, which affected a lot of people's docks. But as low as it was, there didn't seem to be much trouble with navigability.

Some others should know much more I think.

Yeah that's nice just a little out of my price range. Would have to give up vacations for a couple of years to afford that one.

snowboater, I sea trialed my Sweet 16 on Lake Norman. I wasn't checking out the scenery much but I recall the seller told me there were several 100+ MPH boats in residence. You may want to contact Reid at Race City Marine in Mooresville, NC @ 704-451-5080. Tell him John who brought the Sweet 16 sent you.
