A buddy showed me a spot along the bay that was in his estimation a very old Indian hunting spot, he has over the past year gathered well over 100 arrow heads. The majority are a hard white quartz, he did find one made of black onyx. He said that it was probably traded as black onyx is mostly found in the Virginia's. Below are two we found yesterday, one whole and one missing its tip.

Quartz points are not found around where I live in north Texas. Cool finds! Bill

I found a black arrowhead on the north shore of Great Peconic Bay.

The ones shown are not very old - maybe 2500 years. Here is the oldest style found in North America - Clovis (named after Clovis, New Mexico). This one is probably 9500 - 13,000 years old. My wife bought this one from a local finder. The other picture shows the largest and best Clovis ever found in North America a couple years ago (I got to hold it at the Temple, TX show in June, 2010). Bill
