I have been casualy looking for an old retro, Hot rod looking steering wheel. I came across some of my dads old magazines and remember him using Mooneyes for some of his parts. Low and behold I found the wheels. They even have the old metalflake ones. I remember having an old Schwinn with a Metalflake seat and thought it was the chit. They are 13.5 inches and dont even know if they will work with the boat...But for $62 they might be worth looking into ..

When did Fountain use metalflake steering wheels? For $62 go for it and if not strike up the $9 return postage as experience or ??

Covico is what a lot of people use as replacement for the original style wheel. They look very much like the one you have pictured. I believe the 14.5" diameter wheel is correct.

I had both the covico and the moon in my classics. They are both nice some differences the moon is more of a T shaped 3 spoke and the covico is more of a Y traditionally found on the classics. The moon if I remember correctly has a thiner grip which I like better. I just ordered a covico wheel from Rex I had to wait until covico had enough orders to make a run of wheels not sure if they ran a stocking order too. Also get the 12 hole hub from Rex it makes indexing the wheel much easier

With full hydraulic steering an asymmetrical wheel will not stay centered.........................

Grant makes a wheel similar to that and also makes an adapter/install kit to use for a boat's steering post with a key.
