A unique opportunity to purchase a “long block plus” 350 Marine engine.

This engine was built as part of the restoration of a 1967 Donzi Ski-Sporter 16, which is documented on this site ( http://www.donzi.net/forums/showthread.php?58186-Deck-is-off&highlight=Deck+is+off ). I have included pictures of the completed project so you can appreciate the overwhelming attention to detail demonstrated by this project. The engine received the same attention.

The engine was broken in properly, and the initial oil/filter changed at 14 hours. The engine now has 51 hours of fresh water only run time on it. There is a video of the engine running at the end of this post.

The carb (Holley 715 CFM 4bbl, single pump, vacuum secondary’s) was re-jetted for this application, but I have not replaced the secondary spring. In the video, you can hear a hesitation in the video when the throttle is opened completely. I believe the current spring is too strong.

The engine runs strong up to 5,000 rpms (Volvo A290 outdrive w/1.61 ratio, spinning a 14’ X 24” Volvo Ultra S/S prop).

This engine was completely rebuilt by the Grand Rapids, Michigan NAPA machine shop. It was bored 030 over and the crank was mildly polished. Following is a partial list of what the engine received:
• Rebuilt heads (194)
• New Pistons/Rings/Bearings
• New Oil pump
• New Oil pan
• New Water recirculation pump
• New camshaft (Melling Select #22124)
• New Cam Chain Cover
• New Chrome Valve covers

While I realize I could sell this as a long block, and then sell the carb, intake manifold and exhaust manifolds/risers separately and make more money, I have decided to sell the engine as a long-block+. In addition to a rebuilt block, new camshaft & rebuilt heads, I am going to include the additional items currently on the engine:
• Intake manifold, GM dual plane
• Carb, Holley 715 CFM 4bb
• Exhaust Manifolds, OSCO center riser
• Valve covers

The following items are NOT INCLUDED:
• Starter
• Alternator
• Crank mounted water pump
• Ignition/Distributor
• Wire harness
• Remote oil filter kit

Asking $2,250.

Bill, why are you selling it? It is a beautiful engine and runs strong and the price is really good... you have plans to upgrade?

Btw, nice house you have

Upgrade opportunity. We do have a nice house, but that is not it. :shades:

That is our neighbor's house. He used to have a Donzi Criterion, so I stopped to show him the Donzi, and thought it looked like a "DONZI next to my jet" kind of picture.

I hope someone looking for an engine recognizes that it is a good deal, and buys it.

N20 , that is a very reasonable price and just curious what is the H.P. on the motor , and one of those pics with you running the 16 looks like you where on lake Mac ?

Offshore Ginger, Close. That is White Lake (the one 10 miles north of Lake Muskegon).

I never had the engine dyno'd. The builder at NAPA said he is usually ±10 hp, and he said it would be 325. After having run the engine, my "seat-of-my-pants" dyno would say it is probably more like 260 hp.

It is a solid engine. I didn't have it built to sell it. I planned to keep it in the boat for the duration, but an opportunity presented itself that I would like to pursue. Unfortunately, I have to sell this engine first. :frown:

That is one incredibly fine example of a 67 resto. If my eyes pop out at the photos I can't imagine what I'd say if I saw it in real life !

Very well done indeed ! !
