Donzi Blackhawk

Hello Everyone,

Not sure if this has ever been posted before, but here it goes. I want to put together a cd for while out on my Donzi. Now, not what you listen to, but what one song that gets your your blood pumping. One song that when you hear it, the throttle opens up and the biggest smile comes across your face. If the suggestions are good, I may have a few copies available by the home town rally here in Sarasota.

I will reserve my favorite tune for later.

These are on my favorite cruising cd:

'Foxy Lady' by Jimi Hendrix

'Season of the Witch' by Donovan

'Brand New Cadilac' by The Clash

'Down by the River' by Neil Young & Crazy Horse wink

'They Call Me the Breeze' by Lynyrd Skynyrd

'Radar Love' by Golden Earing

I'd love a copy if there are extras.

If it was boating music or driving music, I would have to say Pink Floyd. Learned to drive the boat to Another Brick in the Wall. Learned to drive a car to Time.

Of course it would have to be:

"Down with the Sickness" by Disturbed.
"Highway Song" by Blackfoot
"Simple Man" by Lynyrd Sky
or anything off the Come Clean CD by Puddle of Mud

I'm a little older and don't listen to a lot of the newer stuff out there, but the Miami Vice sound track gets the throttles to the firewall for me! Seeing DJ driving the Stinger over the ocean waves has always been a favorite of mine.

Sammy Hagar, "I can't drive 55" is another favorite for me now that I have a Classic that is capable of doing 55 +. Boston, ELO, REO Speedwagon, Pink Floyd, Queen, Supertramp, The Who, The Cars and Rush just to name a few more.

:p I gotta tell ya, we have a great stereo in our Classic...I absolutely have never listened to it out on the water running, I am toooo seduced by my exhaust notes to interupt it with anything other than the wind, screaming past my ears! eek! But when I started boating on the Bay we would rev up to Black Crows song "REMEDY" excellent guitar, and sort of a country rock beat...I love all music...some day I'll slow down enough to listen to some on the water, not anytime soon though! :D ...Doc

Ted,

Took the Blackhawk out for a ride today. Decided to cruise to the Boathouse. Put Frank Sinatra in the cd and played My Way. Funny thing, everyone at 888 came out singing. Took the cd out of the stereo and flung it at the seawall. Some old dude yelled out NO NOT FRANK! and waved his fist at me. lol :D :D :D

I'm still lacking a Donzi, but whenever i play something by either the cult or social distortion, my 911 seems to go 10 mph faster. hell, even my old 34' tug of a silverton sounds better to any of those cds.........

Took the Blackhawk out for an early morning run. This song never crossed my mind but sure sounded great cranked up, Lifes' been good - Joe Walsh.

Song selections have been great so far. Keep them coming and then we'll list them and then vote for the top ten. When we have the winners, I'll put a Donzi driving album together.

Depends on if I'm cruising or doing a wide open blast.

It doesn't really matter when cruising/idling. Anything but country.

But, when doing a wide open blast there is nothing better than some ZOMBIE!!!

Yea Blackhawk, you Hellbilly Deluxe (http://art.half.ebay.com/prod130/1291288.jpeg) kind of guy, there's nothin' like Rob Z to get things crankin'!

Lots of good tunes listed so far.

How 'bout the The Samples (http://www.thesamples.com/) Summertime or anything for that matter from the No Room CD (http://art.half.ebay.com/prod130/1249885.jpeg) for drifting around in the heat of the summer, and Little Feat's Let it Roll to getting up on a plane!

Hey "I can't drive 55" still works if your boat (or your car for that matter) can't get "up to" 55. You can still relate while riding along at 52mph or 35mph etc...

My favorite boat cd includes the following:

1. "Five dollar fine for whining" by Chris LeDoux (sets the rules of operation for all boat occupants)

2. "Titties & Beer" by Rodney Carrington (ditto but applies to female occupants)

3. "Feeling Better" and "Dinousaur" by Hank, Jr. (I worked for him when he wrote these--fun memories)

4. "If you wanna get to Heaven" Ozark Mtn Daredevils

5. "Got no Shame" Brother Cane (local boys)

6. "Are you Ready" & "Higher" by Creed

7. "A Good Day for the Blues" by Storyville

8. "Bat out of Hell" Meatloaf

Yeah, I know. Strange mix but it works for me.

For balls to the wall driving:

Communication Breakdown - Led Zeppelin

For hanging out on the beach:

Caution - Bob Marley

Positive Vibration - Marley

concur with a few others, the best music is the sound of gas being turned into noise...

if I had to choose a piece of music though it would be "Fuel" by Metallica. couldn't pick more appropriate lyrics

"gimme fuel gimme fire gimme that which I desire oooooooo!!!!" :D (probably reads funny if you don't know the song)

Somehow I never thought I would see the names "Digger" and "Metallica" in the same post!

Allot of good suggestions in this post. I put a new CD player and subwoofer in the Donzi just after we got back from AOTH II and one song that sounds damn good is Group E, Deception's and Reflections track 14 "When I Met You". Set the Outdrive trim all of the way down, engine at 2100 RPM where you just get on plane and crank this tune! It's my personal favorite from the CD John.

It is one you should definitely add to your list Bryant.

Yes, Alabama Steve, the "Bat Out of Hell" Meatloaf album has several great songs, including "Paradise by the Dashboard Lights".

And, I also like Ja Rule...he's got a killer deep voice and a strong beat.

The Fun Lovin' Criminals are not very well known, but have a funky urban sound that works well idling along the no wake zone.

As for The Boss, Bruce Springsteen, so many of his are favorites of mine that I couldn't begin to list them.

I also listen to Johnny Lang, Beck, and Van Morrison.
