I'm looking at a 2004 22 classic, the lower stripe on the hull near the water line is peeling off. Is this stripe a decal or is it gel-kote, the color of the stripes are silver and white. I pulled a white piece off it seems like paint and has a silver backing or it may be a decal that is dried out. Does anyone know what this stripe is made off?

If it is peeling off then it is a decal. The metallic can be the backing. If you get a section of all of it off it should be the same as the hull

My '05 is paint over white gel. I never heard of Donzi using stick on stripes.

My 2001 has stick-on pin stripes all over it. I just pull it off and replace, when a piece gets damaged. Also, not one ounce of paint. 2004 is about the time they started cutting over to painted stripes. If it is an in between boat or some other special graphics package, it wouldn't surprise me if they were decals.

My 1993 22 has painted boot stripes, gel on the deck and engine hatch with vinyl pinstripes to break the line between the yellow stripe and white gel.

I just assumed they were all the same if they came from the factory. My 2006 has gel waterline, deck and boot dark blue stripes and no pinstripes. I just have not been up close to a lot of other 22 classics.

Zinger, I have an 04 with white/silver stripe and it is painted (base coat, clear). My stripe is peeling off also and it does leave what looks to be a silver backing.
