NICE. What is the length? It seems that these boats have a flatter "v" in the stern than a Donzi. Does this make them faster in general? Do you compromise ride in chop?

The overall length is 20' 9" with a 7 ft. beam and a 20 deg. deadrise. Sutphen's are great riding boats.

I'm not crazy about pushing Sutphens on a Donzi forum but have to admit, that is an impressive package. What's the true top speed? Low 90s?

Thanks for the compliment Carl. Please understand that I am not here to "Push" the Sutphen, which is why I will not post or discuss pricing. I just wanted to show you guys the 525 set up because I have seen that the Classic guys sometimes use special power packages as well. I DO NOT want to be adversaries with you guys.

I also saw the Phil Lipship just restored a 20 Cig with and Ilmor package and I know there is a Cult following for this style boat, be it Donzi, Sutphen or Cigarette. Maybe someday we could get the 3 brands together for a side-by-side display or a magazine type spread. Or perhaps we could all attend a Run or show together. Is anything coming up?

As for the speed.... Rich Jr. had it to 91 on GPS with the first prop. There will be more prop testing in the next few days/weeks. The customer took it away already.

Thanks Again

No one wants to discuss pricing on the internet! Here's mine:

Hi Carl,
What's your top gps speed with the 525 in your Donzi?
Outerlimits has my old boat, 2009 21SSX with a 496HO for sale for $35,000
The first one made with big block power. 86 mph.

Any chance this is another NE boat??? would love to see it in person.

Also nice to see Sutphen is selling boats in these trying times.

Hi Carl,
What's your top gps speed with the 525 in your Donzi? Best recorded is 85.8 mph which was bumping the limiter. Real world top speed as rigged is 82-84. Acceleration is amazing.

Very cool. The blue looks metallic and I like the red set off stripes.

There's a 2009 that just hit OSO but with a 496. They are tough boats.

We had a great day on Lk. Hopatcong dialing the boat in. The boats speedo was giving us a hard time, so we went with the Garmin. The numbers are in...........93.4 MPH

Nice top speed post CMC. I did not realize there was that kind of space on Lake Hopatcong to let the Sutphen rip like that.

kind of poetic, running on the lake where it all started.

CMC if you guys ever get over to greenwood lake you have to take the boat over to sportsman's marina. You have a big fan over there the owner. I pulled in there for gas this summer with my sutphen shirt on . The owner got off his perch and came over to us. He said wow there is a name I haven't seen in a while , that shirt is in good shape for being that old. I informed him the shirt was new and you guys were building new boats. I told him about my test ride in the 21. He was really up on the beginings in fact there were quite alot of sutphens on the lake in the mid to late 70's, he remembered a few of the owners.

Lk. Hopatcong was really empty except for a few fisherman and a pontoon boat or two. The boat accelerated like there was no tomorrow. The thing about doing 93 MPH is that you need room to slow down too. Here are a couple more.
