Found these sitting next to each other. Very rough to say the least. Thought it was a cool picture.

Hard to believe that there could be a 100 mph sitting there. Never seen one but many years ago my brother came back from a Florida vacation and raved about seeing one.

The 2 (rough) bow opennings look almost identical...sort of like a grille was pilfered from them, wonder what purpose it served?....I think there might be picture of Don sitting in one in "the King of Thunder boat row" gotta check it out....nice find Scott, Jersey is a treasure trove of by gone history.

they are cool boats had on back in the late 70s with 140 on fun to drive the open in the front is just to get to the cleat and bow eye when you hit around 45 or 50 they start to get air and lift and take off

I used to see a purple one named "Purple Grapes" back in the 70's with an inline modified 150 Mercury.
Very cool boat .

Cool find Scott! I love these boats, we used to have a few on Winni, 150 Mercs, fun to watch them run trimmed out, bow sky high, nice rooster tails, and a good driver could really make these hook up in a turn . . very fast for the water ski races

Scott,

Are they for sale? What's the story/history behind them? Location? I sold mine about a year ago and I'm kinda regretting it!

Thanks,
Harry

I think those are the two at Diamonds Shine up behind silver sands (winni)
Not sure if they are for sale call John Spooner at Diamond Shine and ask. Yes they are in rough shape but restorable.

The opening in the front had a small plywood hatch, not sure what the purpose was... But I have sen fully restored ones that have that same cutout.

The coolest thing about htis boat to me is the trottle location! Its on the outside of the hull not in the cockpit!!!

I bet they put the throttle on the outside of the hull because they knew you will soon be flying out of the boat at speed on a tight turn and will need to be able to reach the throttle to slow the boat down from the outside and overboard as your going over the side ???

they put it there because there was no room tucked in by the seat for those bulky 60's boxes, most used foot pedals, but some had radius deck mounts
