Somehow the PO managed to snap the microswitch in half on the Volvo stern drive trim mechanism. Does anyone have a replacement PN for this antique switch and maybe a place I can order one?

Thanks!

try these guys they have helped me get volvo parts in the past. not sure if the switch is a piece part or not you might need to buy the whole motor.

I wouldn't suggest this for everybody, but given your background in electronics I suspect you've already entertained the thought...

If the part is shot anyway and you've got nothing to loose, and especially if they don't want to sell it separately, I'd put the drill to those rivets and start scanning specs at Digikey or your favorite parts supplier. I'd bet a creative fellow could bodge a generic switch into that housing for about $5, a little solder, and some epoxy.

I'm just sayin'...

+1 It shouldn't be too hard to fabricate. I am guessing it is a normally closed switch that turns the light off once the drive reaches the fully down position (which brings the rod up to open the switch). Bill

Thanks guys!
Yeah, I scoured the DigiKey and Mouser catalogs for hours looking for it but no luck. I've seen this type of limit microswitches in older electronics but not in modern stuff. The PN searches come to a dead end as well.

I'm going to take zelatore's suggestion and rig it up with a more modern microswitch and use the original plunger assy off the old switch to make it work right. I already have a huge stock of microswitches so this is definitely the cheapest route.

Here is the relay motor controls almost done... Just missing the switch.

Sure, I have plenty of generic microswitches laying around here but this one is a spring loaded plunger type and wanted to see if I could get that specific one.

My company services commercial cooking equipment, that switch looks like a cherry micro switch that you might find on a convection oven door, you might try a local vendor of commercial kitchen parts or a service company.
Another place to try would br Frankin machine parts, they sell kitchen stuff , their catalog is pretty good , they probly have have an online catalog.

I know I've seen those style switches around before, but G-Man's post was the key - we used something that looked exactly like that as the shut-off for the lid on the flybridge grills on Carvers for several years.

I'm sure I've seen them elsewhere too, but I can't remember exactly where. Anyway, it looks like you've got a solution already worked up. Well done!

I know I've seen those style switches around before, but G-Man's post got me thinking about where we've used them on the big Carvers and Marquis. First I was thinking it was for the flybridge grill 'lid closed' switch, but that wasn't it. They are used as the limit switch for the powered pilot house doors on the big Marquis. The doors are made by Trend Marine and I have bought just the switches in the past. I don't think I have a part number on hand but i could probably get one if needed.

Anyway, it looks like you've got a solution already worked up. Well done!
