I had a sales appointment north of Crystal River the other day and saw this boat for sale. It is parked in front of a fenced double wide that looks like it may not be occupied.
I thought it might be 19'-22' long and has a TRS drive.
Another feature is a pad that appears to be about 4" wide.
If anyone needs more info, there's a phone number on the for sale sign....I'm assuming the area code is 352...the rest is 795-6205.

Back end looks Pantera like but the small pad is throwing me. With that massive front shear and the pad would make for a wave crusher that could scoot!

In spite what it looks like, I don't think it's longer than the TR, or 22' and may be shorter.....mind you, I was outside the fence and maybe 8'-10' away.
It seems to have a very low sheer.
On the second glance, I see it is an Alpha, or pre-Alpha.
So, do y'all think it's late '70's- early '80's?

Just looked again and I see what you mean. The black bottom paint is throwing me off visually on both the length and the steep bow deadrise. There are MANY options at 22'. The next clue is that bow rail set up and the way it terminates. I don't thing Velocity ever did that. Hmmmmmm

I'm thinking maybe Avanti.........If I remember correctly they made a small offshore type hull. I can't remember where they were built though, perhaps someone on the board can chime in on that.

I now seem to remember that the Avanti's may have actually been manufactured in the immediate Lake George area. I encountered one in Ambrose Channel last year and then again later on the Harlem River. Had a nice chat with the owner and his wife. The boat was interesting and had a substantial gunnel considering its short OAL. Reminded me of a snub Pantera from a lines perspective. It sat very high next to my Warlock 23 World Class Offshore. I don't know anything about the build quality or how long they were in business and I am surprised to see that they fabbed it with a small pad.

Wow, from the looks of those photos George, it almost looks like the hulls had drop out bolsters? A stand up 22.....not seeing that perhaps it is a bit of an illusion from the pics.

Sure looks like an Avanti 22. They were made in NJ at a place called Jet Set Marine if I remember correctly. Great little boats, basically a Pantera 24 with about 2 feet chopped off the back from what I have been told. Most Avanti 22's had 2 hatches on the bow and the stripe going in between the hatches coming to a point near the bow... but I have seen one with a single bow hatch, and even seen one without any hatch at all.

If I remember correctly they measure 22 feet 3 inches centerline. I have a spec sheet right from Avanti somewhere around here hiding in my filing cabinet from when I almost purchased one new years ago.

Nope, but I wish someone would call the guy and see how much he's asking.
When I finish the TR, I'll be finished for awhile.
George needs a break.
I wouldn't mind a few small jobs, but the TR combined w/this economy has just about taken all the joy out of boat ownership.

GregG... first let me tell you that you have a great looking Warlock there... That's the only 23 World Class I have ever seen with a clamp on... NICE!!!

I used to pass by Avanti Marine located just over the Tacony-Palmyra bridge in NJ.
They were located just across the Deleware river in Nj from Philly & next to F.C.Kerbeck Cadillac.

Jet Set Marine Inc.
They built the Avanti performance boat line there .
They also brokered boats & sold other fast boat brands.
They also re-rigged old perormance boats.
The Owner/Builder of Avanti has a waterfront lagoon home here In Ocean City Nj.
The entire facility closed a number of years ago.
It sat abandoned for a number of years.
There were many rumors of Legal & Criminal & possible Tax issues that were said to have been behind the closing ?
I cannot confirm , nor deny, these leagal issues & rumors firsthand.
Rumors still abound.

The Avanti was a great line of go-fast boats.
Fine high-quality built boats.
They were never cheap.
There are lots of them still in use in New Jersey & Pennsylvania & Md.

Great info djmikeyc. That is a pretty unique build with a 24 degree bottom and a 4" pad. I don't believe I have ever seen a bottom like that on any hull that size. Do we think that it truly has a bonded deck seam? That would have been unique to say the least. Silverghost, have you run against any of these Avanti's? I have only seen the one I described in person. The guy wants $16,000 for the Florida boat.

Anyone know where a mint, turn key Avanti is ?

btw, Warlock only built one 23 for eggbeater power, which is the boat I have.

Hello- 1st time posting and would just like to say that I own the '85 avanti 22 that you showed first from lake george, I would also say I love the boat , never in the salt and never will. I have 2 -3 ring binders showing full resto. The boat has alot of class .Have not seen one cleaner. when avanti sold out to the fla. operation the quality also went south,i.m.o.
