Steve, I'd have dropped you a line but she was already moved all the way east to St. Louis, from LOTO. So I just snagged her and headed back east.

24 Cig!??....

Yep. '72 teak deck Cig 24. It's my new project. Just brought her home a few days back. Annapolis to St Louis and back is a long drive. But it's amazing how much shorter it is than going all the way to Lake of the Ozarks.

Not sure what I am going to do (keep the twin inline sixes, repower, what) but I'm going to take some time to get to know it and ponder my options.

Try to keep the six bangers!

Thanks, and yes it's the same boat I looked at right before AOTH. It would be very cool to keep the sixes and hop them up. Not sure I'm lovin the alpha drives--spoiled by shifting from my Volvo a few years back. Need to spend some time learning the boat and put a plan together.

Another pic. (limited bandwidth here)

Really neat find Mike. Congrats! Share more pics please.

Keep the I-6s and give them lots of machine-shop love. Probably not too difficult to get them to put out 250+hp given what I've read in the past.

Are the drives original? IMHO, all drives should shift easily without regard to model/brand. Most shifting problems people experience usually come down to shifters/cables- either worn, not lubricated, or not properly adjusted. The drives can get broken too, but that's usually after something else wasn't working right to begin with.

Whether you go with the SEI or Mercruiser, the replacement drives aren't all that bad price wise, IF they turn out to be a problem.

Very Cool. Great looking boat, congrats. There was one for sale here in LI on the south shore for a while, no where close to that orig. looking condition. Good luck with the resto, look foward to pics.

There are a lot of options for performance for I-6 both Ford and Chevy. Fords have the same bore as 5.0 - 302 engines and the Chevy 250 has the same bore as a 283 - 327 if memory serves me so 327 Corvette parts = wow! There was a company out of Australia that built Aluminum heads for these engines, and I built a stroker/supercharged I-6 for a friends Jeep, went from 4.0 to 4.7 with Roller rockers, performance cam, headers, etc made great power.
