What would cause oil in exhaust?

I have oil coming out of my port exh pipe.
What would cause this????????????

Broken ring?????????????????

A bad oil cooler will put oil into the cooling loop.

+1,,if its alot then suspect a bad cooler..bypass the oil lines and see what happens.

Wouldn't a leaking oil cooler put oil into the entire cooling system? In which case you would see oil coming out of both sides of the exhaust?

Bad valve guides or valve guide seals. +1 for Blackhawk. Port side only would lead me to believe port side problem.

when I had oil coming out of both pipes, $236 later for an oil cooler, I was set. If you disconnect the hoses from the oil cooler and can see milky oil, then that's your problem. but just one side has oil, maybe valve guide like they say. good luck, don't get caught being exxon valdez.:wink:

Pulled the exh manifold today. Oil is coming from #5 cyl exhaust. It has to be a broken ring. Pulling the motor again tommorrow.

I am getting to be real good at pulling and working on this motor. This will be 5 or 6 time the motor has been pulled for repair and I bought the boat 6 months ago. Tore motor down to crank twice already. (#1--cracked block, #2--spun main bearing--wrong flywheel on engine, #3--this BS)

Circlips came out and wrist pin slid over and ate up the oil control rings.

Any possibility to go larger in bore diameter for all 8-holes to increase your Cu. In. displacement, rather then to just sleeve that one cyl?

Kinda like making lemonade or finding someone with a bottle of vodka when life throws you a lemon!

You can go .090 max oversize. Which would be a .043 max gouge. leaving .002 for honing

What block are using ?

The groove is pretty deep. I think sleeve is best solution.

There's a right & wrong way to install them, the chamfer or rounded side of the circlip must face inward to the wristpin and the sharp square edge to face outward from the piston otherwise it can be pushed out. :frown:
