OH Boy' as George stated Where do we start? is right, even Shakespeare would have a difficult time trying to explain all that has come and gone on here over the past year or two alone regarding all the controversy..:uzi: :fire:
Goatee consider yourself the lucky one..

Scott R. is right: It would be easier just to start from today.
Welcome Back!

Quick recap-

Oct 2009 big metldown. Poodle left. Many other long time members also left.

Baxter, Hass and Wind bought D.org. Doing well.

Scot VanAlstine very sick and fighting for his life.

No moderators.

Big Grizz passed away due to complications from a recontructed jaw surgery. Barbara hangin in there and has been attending events. Memorial was this past spring and well attended.

For sale section locked down and any new threads or posts must be approved prior to being seen by Scot. Same issues caused this that created the Oct 2009 split.

Scot only visits site every 7-10 days.

The usual.

Welcome back. :)

wow!! so sorry to hear about big griz. r.i.p.
scot v.a. is harbor master if memory servs.. that sucks about his health.
..and now he is the only moderator?

just logged in last night for the first time. one of the first things i did was go to the for sale section. see if the economy has effected the sale prices any.
i noticed people selling without listing a price.. i knew something was up right away.

even before i "left" two years ago, i remember others creating their own donzi sites.. i guess its hard when thing start growing... hard to keep everyone happy.

it is nice to see some of the old names, and some old avatars im used to.
makes me feel at home again.:)

Sure did. Man, that was a long time ago. I think that was the fall of 2006. Might have some this fall if you are interested. Sent to some to you, Barry (VonKamp, been gone a while) Poodle, and a few others I can't seem to remember.

There are still some of the long time members here, but not many. If they are still around, and some just dissapeared, you might find them on donzi.org if not here. It is a cool forum, check it out. Nothing wrong with visiting both.

If you want an update on Scot (harbourmaster), check in with Jefe, he is keeping up with his condition. Yes, he is the only moderator, but is not really around to moderate. We need a new one pretty bad. Been a year and half without one. Especailly the for sale section.

Good to see you back.

He was on probation here and all his posts had to be approved. Then he got into it with a few on .org and just dissapeared. He was also banned from OSO after 10 years and 20,000 posts. Don't know if it was all the meds he was on, but he became a mean SOB in the last few months before disappearing. Wanted to fight everyone. I never had much problem with him.

Welcome back, Goatee!

As for what you missed - we came to some final conclusions regarding engine oil, the location of fuel fills, which classic color is fastest, whether to foam in fuel tanks or not, volvo vs. merc, dems vs. gops, and whether to paint or gel.

Now...you probably ought to scoop up a good deal on a Donzi Classic, after all it's a buyer's market!

DJ, I am going to keep this short. It isn't a secret that Joe and I are not friends. I went sideways with him, when he started posting a partial recap of a problem I had with my MYCO all over the place(like OSO and Speedwake), but made no effort to recap the service I received from MYCO after the fact. I thought it was pretty crappy and unethical. But, we are all big boys and can handle ourselves, and I did with him.

But, then Joe crossed the line and started to make derogatory comments about my wife Jill. She doesn't log-on here and didn't deserve the comments. Shoot at me all you like, but making class-less statements about someone's mate is uncalled for and way over the line.

I complained to the Harbormaster about the circumstances and he told me that he would put Joe on temporary moderator preview for his posts to keep it from happening again.

That is what happened, at least initially. Afterwards? I don't know, nor do I really care.

Afterward, Jow went a little crazy and wanted to fight everyone who disagreed with him. Guy is not well in the head.

Jon, he was not run out of here, he went off the deep end. Threatening to kick everyone's ass who disagreed is not suitable for a chat board.

If you want to talk to Joe, email Poodle, he probably has his number.

Not sure what Cuda has to do with Goatee being back.

Hey Goat. I'm still hanging around somewhat too. My Donzi hasn't seen much run time in a while, but we've been doing a lot of boating in a 27 Formula cruiser I picked up a few years ago. I keep it at Belle Maer in Harrison Twp. I think the last time I saw you was at the Tin Fish when the MADCOWS did a rally at the Harmony Motel.

Why don't you give us a short recap on where you've been any why? What made you come back here?

goatee
07-15-2011, 08:19 PM
hey guys!!!
where ive been? well,,,, right after everything went to hell, the bottom fell out.
since then it's pretty much been an even slide downward.:bonk:
other than that i have been hunky dory.:smash:

living in shelby twnp. for two and a half years now? still have the salon in macomb, kinda quit doing mobile spray tans. moved a bunch of stuff around in the salon and set up a studio to airbrush people right in the salon.
i like boobs, i like money,, how can i make this work for me?:pimp:
you know that saying?,,, best day work, worst day fishin?
well i beg to differ.

so why back? and why now?
i went to ebay looking for some antique stuff for decoration in the bathroom.
cuz im weird and i like old stuff, whatever. i wanted a razor, stand, brush, ect.
so i thought if im gonna buy one, why not buy one i can use. see what the fuss is all about with these straights.. the more i looked, the more i was getting hooked. it just got deeper and deeper. its kind of a sickness now.:nilly:
i was so scared the first time i straight shaved i did it dry,,, because i wanted to see what i was doing. not gonna do that again.
first its the straights,,, then its the soaps,, then its the brushes. oh...
oh god the brushes...:nilly::nilly::nilly:
im a cheap bastard so i buy cheap straights from ebay that are 100/150 years old. hone them on a stone i bought, strop them, and shave.
you spend so much time doing this that by the time ur done you're looking for something to cut.
shaved the goat twice now. my leg hair is starting to come back to a point where i dont look like a total wanker in shorts.
it wouldnt be so bad but,,, i found a website called badger and blade .com
they are a bunch of enablers. the site is like this one. everyone is cool and friendly. good people. ive been posting there for just a few months, but it reminded me of all you guys.
dont go there!!! the site has everything no matter what you are into. even if you are not!! it wont matter!!!
i thought i was ok,,, drinking coffee....NO!!! no im not. i have an espresso machine in my kitchen now.
unknown amount of straight razors. (got two in mail today)
2 double edge safety
2 single edge safety
what the hell am i doing?????

oh, it's a sickness walt!!
they post pics and call it "brush porn".. some brushes sell for around $300!!!
i have 3 boar and 3 badger. i have no more use for the boar. doesnt lather well.
bitch of it is, one of the boar knots is in a home made black walnut handle.
i may rip it out and re-knot it with a badger.

you get a rusted p.o.s. in the mail,, sand, hone and polish it to a precision instrument with an edge so sharp you can shave your face with it.
theres something very satisfying about that.
and the bathroom smell great!!!!

i had a bid on ebay on one recently.. $11 max.
just sold for $93.. it was a pretty nice one.

i was just cleaning up the second razor i got today, sanded the neck and found out its a "geo. w. korn razor mfg. little valley n.y." 1900-1925
so its between 86 and 111 years old.
SCORE!!!!
i paid $8 plus 2.50 shipping and its probably worth....$122 (thats going by the book) maybe $80 would be more fair est.
still a cool find for a shot in the dark.
U.S. blades are not as good quality as a solingen germany. but hey are worth more because they are rare. just about everything you find is from solingen.
i dont think there has been a blade made in u.s. since mid 60's..
i may be wrong tho.

goatee
07-15-2011, 11:48 PM
66 + 66 is $132 not 122
even going by the book and low balling it, it still comes out at $110
