Jeter 3000!

OK - I know it's a beautiful day and I should be out boating but I happened to catch Jeter's 3000th hit. And a homer too. I may be naive, but this is storybook stuff! #2 hits #3000 at exactly 2PM. And he passed Gehrig on 9/11 (of all days) of 2009. I still like to think that our sports heroes can impart lessons to fans of any age. 3000 hits takes talent, dedication and time.

but only the second to do so with a home run;
the other was Wade Boggs for Tampa Bay in 1999.

As an Orioles fan, I realize little joy praising Yankees. But Jeter is one of the true greats of the game, a credit to all of baseball, and one of the legends all of us can claim to have witnessed in our lifetimes. My hat is off to him.

He is a real class guy. I have met him about 6 years ago and spent a few hours with him. Real cool, Not big headed like most Pros. Real down to earth... He is the kind of guy that makes you feel like your talking to a friend, Not the guy who basically owns NYC and has carte blanch everywhere
