Relisted for $500 less. No bids last week at $7,500. First OMC U-17 I've seen. This could be a good deal for some one. Perhaps the OMC is scaring away some bidders?

I found this boat kind of interesting and I hoped there would be a discussion on it. I wonder if this would be comparable or better than a hornet marine. I guess they are both Donzi ripoffs which makes it "pisonit non grata" here

I can't say how it compares to a Hornet Marine but they are well built boats that are probably the closest splash to a Donzi Classic you can find. I think the general consensus on the board is that they are a nice boat but clearly don't have the name value that a Donzi brings with it.

I have a '96 U17 and it's been a great boat. I certainly wouldn't steer anyone away from it. I actually messaged with the guy selling that one on Ebay. It is kind of an odd bird. It has the markings of a 1997 but is apparently a 1996 and has OMC power instead of the Volvo that the 1996 boats had. Not sure what other differences it has. Best guess is that it was built when they were transitioning from the 1996 to 1997 models.

That one has the windshield, swim platform and thru hull exhaust that were all optional so it looks to have been an optioned up boat when purchased. I don't know the power output of the OMC 5.0FL in comparison to the Volvo Penta 5.0si but I'm sure it's fairly close. Boat is probably right at a 60 MPH boat. The Volvo Penta 5si is rated at 220 at the prop and pushes the boat just north of 60.

As long as it is in the shape it looks, I'd say it's definitely worth the asking price.

it was the options that made it standout to me. I tried to buy one in the past and hesitated when I realized that everytime I described it I said "its very much like a Donzi sweet 16". The boat sold while I was thinking about it.
I drove 700 miles to buy another U17 and a boat that had never left a small lake had all the signs of an ocean veteran.
This boat comes along and it doesn't appear to get any action- it must be a tough market out there.

year. All 96s were a solid color with a stripe down the middle. I thought this boat was actually a 97 due to the paint scheme. 96s had Ford power, 97s had Chevy power. Is an OMC Cobra a Chevy? Interesting boat that may be one of a kind, but no one wants it!
