Thanks for sharing Chris.
It was a teaser to show it with the cover first, but the truth is that I had boats for years without one nice photo to show, so You're doing a great job. I know You are a real happy camper now 'cause a friend of mine Dave who shows up on the Donzi Registry sometimes as Dave911 used to have a couple of Sutphens and he really loved them. My impression was that they were really heavy laid up and had excellent rough water capability. Dave's last one was a 1991 Sutphen Rum Runner with twin 350 Magnums which had Edelbrock manifolds, Gil exhaust etc. Memorable boat for sure
P.S. Here's a few photos of it and a video-link to when he did a cam walk-around at time of sale; video

Nice clip Lars. Forgot how mint Dave's boat was. I always thought the RR was the ideal rough water hull. The entry deadrise is amazing, I always wondered what the actual angle was. As an example the Regulator 23 has a 48 degree entry and the RR looks to be even steeper. I also think it is possible that the stern deadrise is 25 degrees, like the Martini. Great hull DonziChris, time to change your name!

The boat handles great in rough water. The deadrise is 26 degree.

Would like to install thru hull exhaust as my first up grade.

Really liked Your boat Dave, but I don't talk to Masis anymore so I don't know how the boat is doing.

Well Your Sutphens were what turned me on to the brand and I probably will own one sooner or later.

Best to You and Your family Dave and good to see this nice one Chris found

I wonder what made Richie Sutphen Sr decide on a 26 degree deadrise for the RumRunner model back in the day. That may be the steepest deadrise ever on a go fast hull, must be a true wave crushing Cadillac ride DonziChris

Cant remember the name of the MFG came close to purchasing one. jOE pANTERA'S SON USED TO RACE ONE.
Signature I believe had like a 27* dead rise. Tom Adams was the designer and builder

Disagree. Tom Adams splashed a Magnum hull (24 degree) and made (designed) a new deck-hence "Signature". Harry Schoelle (sp?) was the designer of the 24 and 27 Magnums-the most splashed hulls in history.

.
The Sutphen family designed the Rum Runner 26 from scratch. It is the only go-fast to carry 26 degrees of deadrise V making for what must be a plush ride in rough water.
With todays power options, I always wondered how the Rum Runner would do with a monster single motor. I believe that they are laid up heavy.

Fantastic looking boat ....................

I know You just happened to forget the Bertram Baron 28 this time Greg 'cause way back you mentioned it and it's 26 degree transom. Now please don't forget my 28 degree Flying Flipper 30 even though it only has done 85 mph ;)

lars, good catch. This is what happens when you pass 40 and still punish yourself in a small Donzi 16, it affects my memory! So both the Sutphen Rum Runner and the Bertram Baron 28 have the 26 degree V.

Your FF 30 footer making 85mph with 28 degree of deadrise? Good god mate, that is pretty amazing and perhaps the only 28 degree hi-po V in the world?

What a beauty! Love the idea of a big single. nice looking execution, too.
Also, I think Cobalt has a 25 or 26 degree vee on their 30 foot condurre.
Funny thing. I towed my little Sutphen to Lake Tahoe in about 2006, and learned that COBALT stood for Can't Operate Boat At Lake Tahoe. ;)

I always thought the 26' Rum Runner's were a great overall design. I know you made various changes to yours, where did you end up for motor and drive? Great looking boat.
