I need to replace a '87 350 Magnum in a Z21. I am looking for some input on which route to take. Not looking to go "overboard"... Thinking either:
1. Getting a 350 block and rebuild as needed (rings, bearings, etc) and install "original" style heads with stock manifold and carburetor (Quad Jet) and transfer all other parts from original motor.
2. Same as above but install a high performance cam and heads (thinking of Vortex and either re-use manifold via re-drilling).
3. Purchasing a re-manufactured long block and transferring / reusing as in #1.
Any ideas what would be the "best" option. Realizing that it just has an Alpha drive and that the Z21 is never going to be the fastest boat.

Being you have an Alpha IMO keep it mild, the Alpha is a fine drive if not pushed to far. Has the boat been in salt, if so is it F/W cooled? If in salt with F/W no cooling dump the engine and pickup another, it would have to many years of corrosion. You can grab new 300hp deals for 4k bolt and go.
