Looking for a source of glass for the stainless steel windshield. 1998 18C model. Do I just go to my local glass shop and have them make what I need?
I had to replace the port side a few years ago, and it was very difficult finding a source. Now, the windshield is becoming "delaminated" for lack of a better word - it almost looks like it is breaking down from the inside out. May as well do the starboard side.
All help is greatly appreciated!
Paul

Do it yourself, it's a piece of cake. All the windshield Classics came with Acrylic panels. You have the choice of using Acrylic again or Polycarbonate (Lexan). I used Poly on my boat for it's strength and abrasion resistance. There are several older posts on here in reference to buying plastic sheets and doing it yourself.

Here's one post,

I don't think they were acrylic. Polycarbonate "Yes". You can't cold form acrylic and it breaks instantly when you put any kind of side force on it.
although the poly may need heat to bend.In retrospect, the radius is rather large so you maybe able to get away with it, with out heat.

The glass idea looks awesome,But I think you need to have holes through the panel to mount it.

Excellent guys. Looks like I'll have it done soon, as there are a number of material sources locally.

Thanks, Paul
