I have a friend looking at an 01 288 sunsation
any first hand experience with these boats?
We went for a rip in it last night and it seems like a half decent boat

My friend has a 32 Sunsation that I rode in numerous times, Sunsations are made in Algonac, Michigan (East side of Michigan about 1.5 hours north of Detroit). The guy's at Sunsation build a quality boat they just aren't as well known as the big boat names that you hear about on a daily basis. Your friend will not be dis-apointed if he decides to purchase it.
Good luck,

I looked at them before buying my ZXO because they make a MCOB version too.
I actually think the attention to detail in the design is better than than the Donzi. Everything seems really well thought out.
They go pretty large on a single though, I think the 288 is only available as a single and base power is a single 6.2... most of the used ones I saw had 496 or 496 HO power.
All in all, I wouldn't hesitate owning one. They are very nice. It just didn't fit what I wanted. If I was in the 30 foot range that would be my choice though. In fact, they really make the next 'step' for me if I ever wanted a bigger version of my boat. The 35ZR Open is a BIG step up in both size and money but the 32 Sunsation MCOB is not that big of a difference to where it is actually doable.

I have a few friends that have them. they look and perform great. The only downfall that i know of is that in the rough stuff they will not ride like or handle as well as some other boats in that class.

I think at one time these boat were made in Michigan? I worked with a guy who owned one around 32' and he just loved it. Your friends new boat looks very nice, good luck to him and enjoy it.
