They should sell rides to raise money for the USA. If not possible in this aircraft, any fighter jet would do.

I believe O'Bama scrapped the F-22 program. Don't know why. It couldn't have been the Expense, because he certainly doesn't have any problem spending money. :nilly: DJ

Very capable, very expensive, costs more per hour to run than your average 22 classic, doesn't do well when left out in the rain.

"The IAF would be happy to equip itself with 24 F-22s, but the problem at this time is the US refusal to sell the aircraft, and its $200 million price tag."

Israeli Air Force (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Israeli_Air_Force) (IAF) chief procurement officer Brigadier-General Ze'ev Snir'
'

In July 2009, the Air Force reported that the F-22 requires more than 30 hours of maintenance for every flight hour, with the total cost per flight hour of $44,000.[187] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockheed_Martin_F-22_Raptor#cite_note-WP-189) The Office of the Secretary of Defense puts that figure at 34 hours of maintenance per single hour of flight at a cost of $49,808 per hour of flight.[187] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockheed_Martin_F-22_Raptor#cite_note-WP-189)

In 2006, David M. Walker, Comptroller General of the United States (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comptroller_General_of_the_United_States) at the time, found that "the DOD has not demonstrated the need or value for making further investments in the F-22A program."[51] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockheed_Martin_F-22_Raptor#cite_note-51)

On 21 July 2009, the United States Senate (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Senate) voted in favor of ending F-22 production,[66] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockheed_Martin_F-22_Raptor#cite_note-66)[67] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockheed_Martin_F-22_Raptor#cite_note-67) in the face of intense lobbying by President Obama (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barack_Obama) against funding the planes, and threats to sign what would have been his first veto. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Gates) said that the decision to stop production of F-22s was taken in light of the capabilities of the F-35.[68] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockheed_Martin_F-22_Raptor#cite_note-Gates.2C_Robert.-68) A statement issued by Secretary Gates on 21 July 2009 said that "the Pentagon cannot continue with business as usual when it comes to the F-22 or any other program in excess of our needs."[69] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockheed_Martin_F-22_Raptor#cite_note-69)

The F 117 "Stelth Fighter" (Really an attack & bombing platform with NO air-to-air capability has been grounded and they are all being scrapped.
They were suffering from composite failures & de-lamination.
The Navy F 14s were ALL scrapped or sent to museums.
Same with the F 111 s ALL
were scrapped.
We are down to less than 50 flying B-52 s
Fewer B-1 bombers
Still fewer B-2 bombers
The F 15s are getting very old now.
The F 22 canceled.

Exactly what will we have left ?
Toy Drones ?

Seal Team 6 is the future!
No more trillion dollar wars!

Should have used the Seals on Saddam!

No more Big Trillion $ wars ?
That's what they said after WW I "The War to End All Wars" .

We were caught with our pants down at the beginning of WW II ,
We had few ships, Japan put our pacific fleet on the bottom.
We had NO up-to-date aircraft.
No tanks.
Few up-to-date arms at all .

I do not trust Russia & Putin. China is still run by the communists who are building up their Navy with subs, aircraft carriers, & ships.
They are also building up their air forces~~~
All with the money they got from selling their goods in the USA.
They keep breaking into our nation's secret military computers & have spies here.

We should learn from our past errors & past history.
Heavy industry in the USA is on a decline~~~
We now have mostly a service economy.

By the way~~~
The Seals did a Fantastic job too.
But who is now looking at what remains from the burned-out hulk of our new Top Secret Stelth Assault Chopper that had to be left behind?
I heard it was trucked away yestberday.

We have more than we need!
The USA is responsible for 43 per cent of the world's military spending,
distantly followed by China (7.3% of world share), UK (3.7%), France (3.6%), and Russia (3.6%)

Whether you are for or against defense spending, the US is committed to the continued development of manned aircraft. The F-22 replacement is the F-35.

The Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II is a family of single-seat, single-engine, fifth generation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fifth_generation_jet_fighter) multirole fighters (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multirole_combat_aircraft) under development to perform ground attack (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ground-attack_aircraft), reconnaissance (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reconnaissance), and air defense (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aerial_warfare) missions with stealth (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stealth_aircraft) capability

The United States intends to buy a total of 2,443 aircraft for an estimated US$323 billion, making it the most expensive defense program ever.
