So, how did you apply the mirror material?
What's the expected life before it starts losing it's mirror surface?

george, i used the 3M 5200 adhesive as far as how long it should last... the jury is out on that one, its lexan, and ive been told that it stands up well in direct sun lite, lots of business use it around store front windows down near the bottom edge of the store front, we will see

Tim - That would look sharp on your 22! I think you should go for it.

a local sheet metal shop in providence ri they build catering truck bodies its super light i was originally lookin for a sheet of stainless, but the weight and fastening was the issue the lexan can be glued on,,, im not sure how well it will come off if i ever need to get it back off

I really like your custom plastic mirror hatch idea.
The large Donzi logo decal makes it look like a factory installation.
If you used 3M 5200 it will be almost impossible to break it's adhesive bond later.
This is one very tough & strong adhesive/caulk .
You would wind-up breaking off the Lexan mirror in small pieces to get it off later

Has anyone ever tried a similar clear inset panel to show off their tricked-out engine from outside the closed engine hatch ?

Brad, i did use the 5200 adhesive because it will stick just about anythin to anythin,,, and you are correct i will have to remove it in pieces someday if it ever needs to be removed, hopefully its there for the duration

This is originally what I thought the original picture was before I clicked to view the full size image. That would look awesome, especially if the motor was sporting lots of polished/anodized parts.

Good job with this, btw. I'm a fan!

I believe any good local glass repair & fabrication shop should be able to supply Lexan & other plastic mirror material.
It is not very expensive.

I just found this thread. That looks great. I've decided to forgo the mirroring and am working on a custom decal now for mine.
