Here is an Open Bow 220. Power for power these are easily the fastest rough water deep V 22's built. Howard builds a very high quality hull. There 220 model is a 22 degree deadrise, with a wave crushing 50 degree bow entry angle you don't often see in go fast hulls. $37K

I have always liked the Howard boat.

They seem to run real well.

Agree Ken, Howard is one of the best. It's too bad that they don't build the small stuff anymore. On the 220 Offshore they added a delta a few years in that made the boat even faster.

There were very few 220 Offshores made. One of the nice features is that although it is only 22'4" long, they have two facing jumper seats under the dash as well as a small bed. The design allows the jumpers because the bow dead rise is so darn deep, I think 50 degrees and the boat is a full 8' beam. Great place for the kids to get out of the weather and an adult can sit straight up under there. Picture is not the best but gives a good idea. These hulls have a 22 degree dead rise and they came in three flavors. This '94 is a straight old school V at the transom. In 1997, Howard added a delta pad. Then in 2000 they added a notched transom as well. 7 color gel coat colors was standard. Bummer that there is so much pink!

So here we are almost four years to the day and this Howard 220 Offshore is back on the market. If you are looking for a walk through open bow layout in a performance hull you won't find anything better than this. Howard Custom Boats are some of the best built hulls made, period. The ad my bot found is a bit wrong, the "XL" layout was actually the closed bow which you see a few more of. First offered in 1993, 2003 was the last year Howard built a "220 Offshore" in production although one or two have been built by special order since. The 2002 and 2003 models added a notch in the transom allowing for a slightly higher drive setting so 75mph on GPS is legit. A big 22 footer with 8'1" beam with 32" freeboard. This boat looks almost like it is new for .............. $40,000

Here's the ad, a hell of a nice piece of candy in someone's Easter basket!

In 2011 this 2002 Howard 22' Offshore with a walk through open bow layout on the left traded for $37,000. More hi-res pics (from then) are still up at http://hilinemotorsports.com/portfolio_item/5045/

Now, 5 years later not only is the exact same boat back up for sale at $35,000, but there's a second 1994 Howard Offshore with a closed bow also for sale for $24,500 after having last traded in 2013 for $25,000.

Howard Custom Boats builds a really high quality boat as shown by there lack of price depreciation over the years. The 22' Offshores are wave crushers with high freeboard and are no longer built by Howard.

They are some of the "biggest" boats out there for there 22' 4" size, but still perform very well. Someone should buy both of them. Use one during the week, and the open bow on the weekend with the family and friends.

Here is the 22' Offshore with twin smokers bolted on the back. Unfortunately they made very few of these in outboard. Put two 300XS Merc's on the back and the thing would be crazy quick in rough water.

Here is a Howard 22 Offshore with a monster motor that just hit the for sale pages. This was built brand new in 2010 which would make it one of the last three 220 Offshores ever built by Howard Custom Boats. Unusual to see a closed deck model with a stabbin cabin and a porta potti. All the colors are done in the gel on these boats.

So three years ago this Howard 220 Offshore sells for $20,000.

Fast forward to today and the guy who bought it back then, just put it up for sale. I think the colors are timeless and it also has a unique ski boat layout with seating for 10. Looks mint ............ $26,000.
