Does anyone know what word or words are no longer readable
on the Donzi Dink decal just above the Miami Florida wording?

"Manufactured in" is my guess too.

I thought it might have something to do with the model of dink but none of those add up. like "Sail" or something but nothing works for centering, etc.

Oh, its not a trick question. I don't know the answer either.
I am trying to have the decals replicated before doing a complete restoration on the Dink.
The guy at the decal shop is guessing " PAT. NO. XXXXXXX

Seems like it fits in the area and seems to match the partial visible letters.
What do you all think??

Fits better than anything else so far by a lot. I think that's probably it.

Maybe there's an easier way, but worst case, I wonder if there is a way to ask/search the patent office for patents held by Donzi. It's gotta be there if that's what it is.

This might sound crazy,but if thats the original surface,how about finger print powder and a blacklight,works on CSI.

I did a quick patent search on Donzi, Aronow, and Dink and didn't find one.

There aren't many out there for donzi in general... the oldest one dates 1986.

You might be on to something. I am an arrowhead collector, and I use blacklights to help determine authenticity of the original mineralization patina. A blacklight will show if the original patina has been disturbed by recent rechipping to augment the symetry of the piece. The modern chipping will glow a brighter color under a blacklight. In this case, there is a real good chance that the original white background under the original black letters will glow a different color due to being protected from the elements for so many years before the letters peeled off. Worth a try - :yes: Bill

Ditto this. The instant I saw the word 'blacklight' I felt like an idiot for not thinking of it. Those things reveal all sorts of stuff we don't usually see.
