Anyone remember the name of the designer/manufacturer of the 502 mag mpi intake manifold?? '97 vintage.

The name was posted years ago, but I fail to remember who it was, and can't find it through a search.

Thank, Bob

I'm not normally good with names but I think it was Art Lingenfelter.

but i'm not sure if he had anything to do with that intake

I vaguely remember reading the story, and I agree w/Jim that Lingenfelter didn't have a direct input, I seem to remember he'd done some similar intake work.

I'm thinking of a HP aftermarket offering that I believe I saw for sale through Teague maybe ...

I think it was John Lingenfelter and Arizona Marine.

Thanks for the feedback. The reason that I asked is that I want to repair my old one that rotted through from the inside and thought that having the type of aluminum would help any potential welder.

I just emailed AZ Speed. I'll see what they say.

Lingenfelter was the name I was trying to remember.

You may have an issue finding a welder, the shops out by me won't touch them. We have had quite s few go bad from the salt, a new one is some expensive. Some say what makes them go faster than after market aluminum manifolds is the copper lining, once breached they fry them selves from dissimilar corrosion. If you can get it welded it may very well last longer than stock not having the coating.

I had some that where welded up, worked great. The person who did the welding also 'ceramic' coated the water exposure spots.

When I get a few extra minutes, I'll bring it to a couple of shops and see what they have to say. I just looked at some old photos and it looks worse than I remember. But, it doesn't hurt to ask.

Heard back from AZ Speed.

No, Mercruiser copied our manifold design, we sold our manifolds to GM Powertrain and Mercury Racing. Jim Shofner

Lingefelter

Did around, you should be able to find a used one on the cheap.

If not, ask AZM about cores. They usually keep some around for people that want the extrude honed version.

Actually,
I am not in the market for one. I have the damaged one sitting in the garage and was thinking about repairing it, so I could either sell it or keep it as a spare.
