Somebody just forwarded me this FOX article about a law in Kansas allowing bikers to run a red light if the in-ground sensors don't detect the bike and won't change to green.
(This is nothing new, many states have this, including here in CA - it's pretty common that the sensors don't 'see' a bike and unless a car pulls up next to you the light will never change. I'm sure all of you who ride have experienced this. Technically, without a law to allow bikes to proceed the light would have to be considered defective and therefor treated as an all-way stop anyway, so this simply puts into writing what already exists.)
But the thing that really got my attention is how the story is spun. They make it look like bikers will be allowed to just run red lights at will. They even go so far as to spin ABATE (American Bikers Aimed Toward Education - a group that is best known for putting on rider training courses) as some sort of militia or something by calling them A Brotherhood Against Totalitarian Enactments. Gee, why not just call them them white supremicists and be done with it?
The question is do you think they were just too lazy to take 15 seconds to google ABATE, or were they intentionally sensationalizing the story? Going by the over-all tone of the article and their 'reporting' style, I'm voting the latter.
There's a reason I so love FOX...:bonk:
