No.

Fill it with water and it will sink:shocking:

Try replacing a gas tank and you'll find out! LOTS OF FOAM!

yes and no flotation foam was made mandatory by the USCG in the 70's for boats under 19 feet that's when the Hornet went to a 20 instead of a 19 so if you have a late 70's 16 or 18 you'll have foam if someone didn't remove it.

Not sure where the size regulation is now

The 22's have foam outboard of the stringers and in front of the fuel tank between the stringers. I highly doubt there is enough to keep it afloat though

Pic is from an 04

You must be looking at it wrong Carl. Our tanks are in the same location.

I see now that you have the entire insert out. You can't do that without the deck off.

Yupper! Yeller and I have both opened up our under bow areas for more stowage space and even room to sleep now and then.

We both put floors in. Yeller did his just a little different than mine. My net weight gain was around 15 pounds and if I pull the carpet I am about 30 pounds lighter than stock. I did this out of necessity since the stupid little bin didn't begin to hold the gear I need to carry on the Great Lakes. Yup, it can be done with the deck on. I'm sure Carl did his with it on, and I started doing it to mine with the deck on as well (one day I'll get around to finishing it...).

It's not the most comfortable job in the world, but it's 100% doable.

Carl's interior job is still my most favorite Donzi mod EVER.

Someday I'll get around to it. After my paint job, new interior, new gauges......etc.....etc.....etc. :boggled:

Thanks man! I can't even imagine the boat the way it was. I kind of like the mods I made on the other end too .
