I have been looking into guages and controls. ( amongst other things)
What do you like best and why? Livorsi or gaffrig...
Thanks for your imput.
They will be going in my 66 18 2+3

They are both fine. I have gaffrig but am more impressed with Livorsi. I have a few gaffrigs that steamed up. I have heard that Livorsi will do the same.

Are the old gauges toast or unrestorable? That would be cool. Mine were not so I did the gaffrigs in my 73 X-18

If I remember correctly, Livorsi gauges are made by Auto Meter.
You can find a good selection under that name.

A lot of the newer gauge/bezel combos look real nice and can be color matched to your boat. I like the old school look of the SW gauges.

Livorsi & Autometer are both good. Gaffrig is ok, but I prefer the first 2 personally if you were looking for something more modern.. Autometer does make many of the components for the 3 of them.

The glass, bezels & faces and connections on the back are usually done to what Livorsi or Gaffrig want and with thier label on it. They also can do thier own schemes on them. We are dealers for all 3 of those companies. We also offer many brands as well.

I will say that the Livorsi, Gaffrig & Autometer ones are not period correct if you are looking to try to keep with a stock look. I do offer period correct ones & ones that are similar to period correct for your boat. Of course everyone is different with what they like. So if you do prefer the other ones from Gaffrig, Livorsi or Autometer that's cool as well and yes their gauges are built well too. It just depends on what your overall tastes are.

I too like the nostalgic look of the early set ups. It's cool to see them retained or stay with that look in the older classics. :)

Your dash would have looked something like this. What you see are Stewart Warner gauges installed in 2005 on my 1970 ski sporter.

The Stewart Warner gauges in my boat are the Heavy Duty series and are still available.
