I have a 22 and got this last Sept #1 because it is beautiful plus I wanted a small lake boat. I now have a 77 x18 hull and a 406 motor that we will be putting together. Looks like the X-18 he speaks about...you can see the foredeck flair in pics 1 & 2.

The blue boat is what started it all last August. It is a very nice 84 22 with a recently redone 454 oval port heads/496 exhaust and a mild cam. It does about 67 but I don't know what I am doing it may do a touch more. This boat will stay "exactly as it is". The x18 hull will head to Jamie in two weeks but need to sell the 16 before I can do much to it. It will have a "very" strong 406 with bravo/dual ram steering and k planes as well as after market exhaust. The 16 is a very beautiful boat but I would like to build a unique speed freak.

I was lucky enough to get to see this 16 Donzi Ralph has for sale here. I was there in the shop delivering his new TOY on let me see, when was that again, oh yea it was on Friday Morning. I drove the 32 hours of drive time up there & back in 40 hours & that included the time I spent with Ralph & at lunch. Thanks again for that burger Ralph. I can let anyone that might want to know that the boat is very nice indeed especially for 15 years old & won't those pipes sound good with that V-8 bellowing out thru them this summer? Thanks again Ralph for a good visit & tell your lovely Wife hey from Alabama. Tom

that is not a flair the windshield is painted white with the blue deck stripe I think it looks awesome. New to Donzi world and don't know why more 22's aren't like it.

I meant to ask you about that when I was there, I thought you had fixed up some farring or something to make it look newer. Can you get some pics of that next time you are down there & have time to take the cover off. It does kinda look like Geos X-18 Mighty Mouse thru the plastic. The color & all. Take care, Tom

Sweet Boat for $11,500 that is the exact price I paid recently for a 95 16 I found in NY. The boat was only 45 miles from me. The seller was meticulous-- a real nice guy!! It was a fair price for both the buyer and seller. But...mine has a 4.3 L V-6, not a V-8 like Ralph's . My point is: That is a smoking deal for someone who wants to get into a mint Sweet 16 with a V-8. Ralph, no worries, your boat will be gone soon. Spring is right around the corner and people are starting to twitch (myself included)!!

Thanks to Tom and the New York guy for the endorsement of the 16. I would love to keep but alas I need a lottery ticket to come thru. PS if my project falls thru I may be keeping it!!!!!

Jason,

Welcome to the board.

This is a very, very nice boat.

Ralph prefers phone calls over email. Give him a call: Ralph 248-666-4250

I believe he is in eastern Michigan.

I tried a couple of times to send you an e-mail at the address listed and it bounced back both times as undeliverable.

Thanks for the encouraging words , I am basically a life long boater and have owned a lot of boats but never a donzi. I live on the niagara river so I always want to have some sort of boat . I currently own a 78 Trojan 28 flybridge cruiser , the boat is great but I just don't want it any more (to much work) and to much boat for me to handle by myself (my wife doest help , she just sits there like she paid a charter captain) so my original plan was to get a party barge with a honda 4 stroke on the back but the wife said "I want somthing sporty" so I said ok ... I was originally looking at 02 to 06 baja outlaw 20 but my father inlaw suggested I look into a sweet 16 . I then looked everywhere and then came upon this forum and ralphs boat . All I can say is Wow , that's how I would have ordered it ... I am super excited .

Nice Boat !!!
Well, The seller delivered this boat to me a few weeks ago , I had it out yesterday for its maiden voyage . The boat performed flawlessly !!! I recorded a top speed of 58 mph on gps (full tank no passengers but mostly old fuel) there was a lot of debris floating in the niagara river so my video was cut very short in order to stay clear of it . Thanks again Ralph and thanks to the Donzi Registry ...

My only complaint with the boat is that : After i buffed out the top of the hull and re-waxed it , i Have a hard time getting the mooring cover on (it keeps wanting to "slip off") lol...

OK, what is it with all you guys who leave the dock line tied to the front eye???:shocking:

Thought about that yesterday ... (the dock line thing) I agree it looks like sh@t and takes away from the beauty of the boat . I have even read comments on here like "slop line" but (in my defense) I had alot on my mind (concerns) putting a boat in the water that i was not familiar with so i decided i was going to rock the "slop line" i do not plan to in the future though . Is it a donzi purist rule to never leave that line on when under way ?

Nice boat. And yes there are lots of Donzi rules. Such as: Are the rub rail screw slots aligned?
